Bio
Carley Baer’s original blend of “folk/pop with a ukulele twist” turns heads everywhere she goes. Based in Portland, OR, she entertains audiences on guitar, ukulele, and accordion, dazzling the masses with her crystal-clear voice, high-energy performance, and coyly confident stage demeanor.
In 2010 she released You Can’t Control The Weather, her first full-length EP, and is currently in the process of recording a follow-up. In the interim, she’s released a series of bootlegged concerts and basement recordings, including My New Friend (2011), which introduced the ukulele as her trusty new sidekick, and Catbird (2013), which features rough demos of upcoming album tracks as well as songs that didn’t make the final cut.
Her true power lies in her live performances, where she’s been described as “captivating” and “charismatic”, with one attendee proclaiming, “It’s impossible to walk away from one of her performances without a smile on your face.” Because of this, she has become a fixture at Portland’s iconic Saturday Market, and can usually be found at any of the popular outdoor markets around town when the weather’s good. She also travels (by train!) regularly back to her home state of Wisconsin, where she’s played Summerfest in Milwaukee and is also a regular participant at Steel Bridge Songfest in Sturgeon Bay.
She also loves playing house concerts, and would probably arrange to play in your living room if you asked her nicely.
