It’s all there in that mythical place where melody meets mood, rich and inviting, with the sound that can wrap around you like a blanket and keep you warm even through the darkest night. Carl’s breathy, defected voice connects instantly. Not with the honed perfection of a polished showman but with the real, lived-in voice of the common man, bathed in melancholy and drinking deeply from the glass half empty.

“I only started singing because the songs demanded to be completed and I had no one else who could breathe life into them” says Carl. And so here we are, a little Dutch courage and an open mic later, eagerly embracing the debut offerings from a certain lifelong musician.

Described as the lovechild of Dire Straits and The Church – Carl’s music is instantly familiar and pulls up a comfortable resting place, feet up, alongside those timeless pieces you’ve slotted into the “they don’t write like that anymore” pile. He takes you back to that place where the song is still king, where atmosphere and groove still hold sway and where masterful melodies, meaningful lyrics and space are a given far more than passing glance.

His live performance is a dynamic yet relaxed experience. His repertoire takes you from the warm depths of a Delta introvert to the passionate highs of the masterfully crafted extended codas where the band’s musical prowess leaves most in its wake. A joy to experience and one that will leave you wondering – why haven’t I seen these guys before and where the hell can I see them again?

Carl is currently in the studio working on his debut EP “Six Degrees” and rehearsing his stellar band of consummate musicians. He can be seen at selected live locations along the East Coast over the latter part of 2006 on into mid 2007 before focusing his efforts on overseas promotional activities.
