Bio

Carling Kristina Campbell (born in Peterborough, Ontario) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, classical pianist, and composer.

At an early age Carling had a passion for singing and at age six started piano lessons and writing songs to sing and play, which she practised relentlessly. Siezing every opportunity to perform, Carling developed her style by learning from and adapting her favorite songs by Tori Amos, Carole King and Ella Fitzgerald to her captive audience at family gatherings and school functions.

In high school Carling was actively involved in performing arts such as musicals, coffee house shows and as a senior director of the school choir. This boosted her confindence in her vocal ability, leading to many solo performances at local restaurants and concert halls.

In January 2001, Carling was invited to open for Craig Cardiff at the Gordon Best Theatre (Peterborough) and successfully played to an awed crowd of now new fans. This lead to another opening gig for Craig Cardiff in 2003 at Show Place Theatre (Peterborough). While at the University of Toronto, Carling performed at a number of Toronto music venues and was the headline act for the Ontario Liberal Party Celebration at the Bamboo Cabana on the Queens Quay in Toronto, Ontario (2005).

Her music is an eclectic mix of blues, soul, rock-steady and dub reggae rhythms that, when combined with her unique vocal styling, delivers a truly ear grabbing sound.

Carling has worked with some of Reggae Music’s iconic figures and innovative minds, most notably Mikey Dread. Carling credits Mikey Dread with exposing her to dub culture, arranging the unreleased track “THE RED BOOTS” and providing her with constant encouragment to develop her music.

The result of these encounters is manifestly evident in Carling’s work on her debut singles JUST BREATHE (April 2011), STRANGE PETALS (March 2011), THE RED BOOTS (July 2011) and LAMENTATIONS (November 2011) all of which are available on the Crowning Sun Inc "e"Store, and online
