Carly Layne is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Laguna Beach who you need to hurry up and get to know. After hearing her, you probably wouldn’t expect that she’s only 24 and has only been serious about music for a few years.
Layne, a multi-instrumentalist (she can play drums, guitar and piano), says while co-leading her church youth group she realized she could write “secular songs…songs about boys.” Thank goodness for that. Otherwise, her new single “If You Were Here” would not have happened. The song will be on an upcoming EP that Layne is currently recording.
“If You Were Here,” includes Justin Burrow on guitar, Mikey Hachey on bass and Jorden Ingmar Alofs on percussion. Influenced by Wilco, Ryan Adams and Jessie Baylin, Layne’s country-esque/folk undertones bring the song to life. While her voice shares similarities to Norah Jones, Layne proves that age is just a number. - Ashley Eliot

Bio
Carly Layne, who was raised in California, began by singing in annoying school talent shows, and soon taught herself enough guitar to co-lead youth praise and worship at her local church. After a while, Layne started writing songs of her own... songs about boys.
After Carly graduated from high school, she began booking artists and bands while she continued to work on her own music (little did the talent buyers know she was only 17). Just as in "Almost Famous", a young and innocent Layne hung out with musicians who were much older. Through great opportunities, Carly managed to network and book shows of her own. As the shows grew, so did her band.
Layne recently enlisted the help of The
Project to record her single, "If You Were Here". Present day, she
continues to play shows, and work on her upcoming EP. She is also currently in
post-production of her music video for "If You Were Here", which was filmed by the boys at FunnyorDie.com.
Though a Southern California native, Carly's heart truly belongs to the South. She describes her music as Singer-Songwriter/Country. Some of her influences include Patsy Cline, Paul Simon, Norah Jones, Ryan Adams, and Wilco.
