First, Sam Horwill's powerful vocals, backed by a fine lead guitarist and an elaborate bassist, smashed any expectation of dreary navel gazing.
Carly Bryant followed with an extraordinary range of songs performed in a delightful, unforced alto and accompanied by intricate and unusual acoustic guitar playing.
If some of her songs were dark, her luminous personality more than compensated.
Finally, accompanying herself on a range of guitars and an electric piano, Polly Paulusma performed a set of elaborate, pictorial songs which explored complex emotional states with clarity and insight while keeping the mood light.
It should have been her night but I suspect Carly Bryant is the real star-in-waiting here. - ARGUS NEWS

Carly Bryant is so much more than just another girl with a guitar. Her voice has depth and originality, her compositions are peppered with spectacular and thought-provoking lines. She plays her guitar with such fluidity, panache and rhythmic effect that it becomes an extension of herself. This is a beautiful must-see, must-hear act. - ROCKSMAG
Carly's voice has an uncommon depth, and her lyrics range from the tender to the ironic. You must catch her! - ONE80NEWS
Infinitely talented CARLY BRYANT has a nice line in talking-bluesy singer-songwriting and one hell of a voice. She sings confessional and comedy lines without pretension or mawkishness and she charmingly disarms the audience within three seconds of stepping on stage. - CULTUREDELUXE

Bio
Ben Taylor, Joan as Policewoman and Tinarewen have all been mesmerized by Carly as she worked the crowd in her support slot for them; her natural ability to captivate an audience and relentless gigging experience ensure she is the first port of call with top venue promoters across Southern England.
The last 12 months have seen Carly placed on iTunes essential albums, turn down two label offers, join forces with a booking agent and promoters, collaborate with songwriters from Asia for international releases, and gig across Europe both solo and with her band in venues ranging in capacity from 30 to 3000.
Her live act with 3-piece band has culminated in a meticulously rehearsed and harmonious sounding group who perform with enigmatic chemistry and pure confidence stemming solely from the beauty of Carlys' songwriting.
The band consist of dedicated and true musicians - blonde hottie SallyGirl on bass has rocked the Quicksilver World Surf Championships in Biarritz, supported The Kooks, and averages 4 marriage proposals a week. The tanned, talented and tasty SammyBoy on drums has played with Alexander O Neil and Carleen Anderson, and recently turned down a 6 month stadium tour of Russia with a top European artist to focus on Carlys music.
Comparing Carly Bryant to other musicians has always proved somewhat of a prickly pear...her songs encompass notes of folk, French jazz, Chopin-esque piano, and Tarantino surf-noir, but amidst this lies the distinct vocals and musical style which has made Carly revered by all who have heard her:
Her latest album showcases these stylistic amalgamations perfectly, and led to renowned producers Martin Wright and Jason Knight (producer for Ronnie Woods album, and keys player for platinum-selling band Reef) working tirelessly on the album for the last 3 months. For free.
Achievements include:
Carly performed a live session on BBC Southern Counties after a great response to her album "A pocket full of rye" being played and following her Guilfest appearance in July 2009, Carly's song 'what you say' was put onto an iTunes essentials album.
Ladies and Gentlemen
I give you Carly Bryant.
