BandPopAdult Contemporary

I see myself following in a musical, storytelling tradition of such great songwriters as Ben Folds, Jackson Browne and Cole Porter.

Every night I strive to entertain people with the sad, weird and funny way we fall in (and out) of love... mostly out.

Biography

A veteran of the New York City songwriter circuit, Carmin Turco has been composing and performing his lyric-driven, guitar and piano, Adult-Alternative ballads for many years, having debuted at the legendary CBGB's at age sixteen.

Carmin is a recipient of the Sennhesier Songwriter of the Year Award and received sufficient national airplay and record sales to make his release “Tricycle” eligible for a Grammy nomination... a great success for any independent artist.

Carmin has recorded a CD single with Bob Casale (Devo), and has independently released two, full-length CDs, several CD singles and two music videos. Carmin has performed across the United States on tours sponsored by MasterCard, Merrill Lynch and Amtrak, and has sung on Broadway at the historic Hudson Theater.

Simple

Simple

You start off kind of sweet
And never take your eyes from me
A conversation on my toes
Nodding my head like someone who knows
An instant delight to make you laugh
And things start moving pretty fast
It’s simple

The party noise blocks the chi
So you lean up and in to me
And it’s by where you place your hand
It tells me something we both understand
Ten thousand years to evolute
That’s my theory but it’s true
And simple, simple

We’ll never take anything
We’ll ever do and save it
We’ll never know at the time
If this might be the greatest part of our ride

So now the pressure comes to me
To slide us to that destiny
So we can find each other when
Tomorrow morning we wake up again
So I write my number on a five
I guess I’m walking home tonight, and that’s alright
It’s simple, simple

We’ll never take anything
We’ll ever do and save it
We’ll never know at the time
If this might be the greatest part of our ride

It’s simple

The Horses

The Horses

It's been such a long time since I had a mailbox with my name upon it
I swore the day I left you that I'd never love somebody so dishonest
Now there's a whole lotta hurt between the mailbox and the dirt
Caught between the treads of my tires

I traveled every day somewhere along the way
I was followed by a ragged little girl
She diddled on a fiddle and her lyrics were a riddle
A treasure map in to her brighter world
She swore the little bit of love inside the little finger of her glove
Would last me for a lifetime... or more

It's got something to do with horses and timing
And patiently aligning
It's got something to do with the horses

She said 'follow every word' and it hurt me as a heard it
Cos I heard only the words she never said
And I never worked so hard that I might lose my faith in god
But I swear that somewhere back there, I did

It's got something to do with horses and timing
And patiently aligning
It's got something to do with the horses

Down

Down

Hey, I like the shape of your face
The squint of your eyes, when they're closed
The thoughts in your head that I don't know
Safe and sound, and buttoned down
Down, down, down

Hey, I like the weight of your hand
The heat of your cheek on my chest
The scent of your skin that I like best
Warm and round and loosely bound
Down, down, down

Tomorrow is Sunday
When lovers can sleep late
I'll be tempted to wake you

Hey, you hear the words that I say
Reacting to the timbre of my voice
Your body moves without a choice
Slowly ground and moving around
Down, down, down

Tomorrow is Sunday
When lovers can sleep late
I'll be tempted to wake you

I wanna wake you

Can You Say Love?

Written By: Carmin Turco

Can You Say Love?

My better angel asked me to do her a favor
Favors never being my thing
She said, walk a thousand miles in one direction
Till you come back home again

She said, honey I have watched you from up in heaven
Baby you ain't getting no where
Standing like a jackass getting beat with hailstones
Ain't no way to get your share
She said baby you know life ain't fair
Can you say love?

I started walking Sunday in one direction
Just like juju told me I should
But I woke up Monday morning sleeping with the devil
Lord you know that can't be good

I asked providence come save me from my own addiction
Hell is gonna block my way
Climbing up the mountain of my own salvation
Lord it took a couple of days
But now grace is shining on my face
Can you say love?
Until you stand up to the challenge and find your balance, baby now can you say love?

On Friday I had witnessed the darkest midnight
Saturday the sun never rose
And on Sunday I'd been walking for seven days
But I was no where closer to home

I said Jesus wouldn't want me walking in no desert
Moses would have parted my way
Allah only wants me to be deep and respectful
Buddha's never wanted a thing
But I still can't tell if I am sinning
Can you say love?
Until you stand up to the challenge and find your balance, baby now can you say love?
