"Not To Be Missed: The Locals at FPSF"

Over at the Jupiter stage, Carnival Talk will be performing their synth pop sounds at 11:20. I caught these guys at Fitz a while back and I can attest to their great sound. They have this way of mixing creepy synths atop an almost dreamy beat that’s only made better by singer Molly Gavin’s direct vocals. They should make for a very entertaining set and they’re definitely worth checking out. - Free Press Houston

"2014 Free Press Summer Fest Announcement"

To get an idea of what this band sounds like, imagine if Lana Del Rey started singing 1980s music (in the best way possible.) - Houston Chronicle - 12 February 2014

Still working on that hot first release.

Carnival Talk is a synth-driven music collaboration between Molly Gavin and Chris Watts.

Starting as an experimental project in 2013, Carnival Talk has quickly caught the attention of many in the local Houston independent music scene with their soulful synth-pop sounds created by use of both modern and vintage synthesizers.

In May 2014, Carnival Talk supported the UK alternative band Wolf Gang (Cherrytree Records) and in June 2014 took the stage as part of Houston's premier alternative music festival - Free Press Summer Fest, headlined by artists such as Jack White and Vampire Weekend.

Molly Gavin is a talented vocalist and performer bringing a stage presence of someone with wisdom beyond her years. She was recently (May 2014) interviewed and photographed for Houston Modern Luxury magazine.

Chris Watts has previously performed as part of a number of bands in his hometown of Perth (Australia) including leading OWLS (selected as a Western Australia Music Industry Showcase Artist in 2011) and as a multi-instrumentalist supporting the performing artist Lucy Peach.

Carnival Talk have recently released their first recording - a two track single entitled 'Fate' - which is available via iTunes as well as for streaming via Spotify. A physical vinyl 7" version was released in September 2014.

Starting in July 2014, Carnival Talk will call San Francisco home, spending time split between Houston and San Francisco - making them available for performances and recording sessions in Texas and Southwest US, as well as the US West Coast.
