Carolina Portilla is an eighteen year old singer/songwriter. She was born in Colombia and at the age of nine moved to Canada with her family. At the young age of six she would sing at all family functions and events. In school, her music teacher was so impressed by her singing abilities that she told her mother that Carolina would be a wonderful addition to the school choir. At age thirteen, she started playing the guitar when she got it as a Christmas present from her parents. She took guitar lessons at Yamaha and played at the Calgary Telus Convention Centre. She later took guitar and singing lessons for two years at Time Music Studios in Calgary. When she was sixteen, she performed a Taylor Swift song called "Fifteen" at her school's talent show. She auditioned for a church choir and sang with them for several months. Carolina also sang at Time Music Studio's showcase while accompanied with the piano. The following year, she performed an original song. In May 2010, she auditioned for the Calgary Stampede Talent Show and performed a Spanish song. She has continued to write music and is quickly expanding her audience through YouTube. In February 2011, Carolina performed three of her original songs to her peers at her high school's talent show called "The Battle of the Bands." In the summer of 2011, she got accepted to perform at the Lilac Festival and the Sun and Salsa Festival. With undeniable talent and a passion for music and art, Carolina is going to continue to expand her audience and pursue a music career.

With such a good work ethic and charisma, she also finds time to give back to the community. She did a benefit performance, was a safety patrol with the Alberta Motor Association and also volunteered at Linkages which is a program that helps seniors.

In her spare time she enjoys playing soccer, volleyball, hanging out with friends and watching movies. She also enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.
