"ABERDEEN BAND SUPPORT RISING STAR AT SNAFU"

Two Aberdeen College students warmed up the crowd for rising star Alex Gardner at a packed gig at the underground Union Street nightclub, Snafu, on Sunday night, and attracted rave reviews.

Caroline Smith and Ryan Jenkins, both HND Music students at Aberdeen College, were asked by DF Promotions to be the opening act for the Edinburgh-born singer, who has been widely tipped as the UK music industry’s Next Big Thing.

Caroline commented: “We supported Alex Gardner at Snafu and the gig was great. The crowd were really enthusiastic, which helps keep your energy up.

“We’re going on tour in April to promote our album, which is coming out in May, so it’s great to be getting to play with popular acts already.

“Ryan and I have been writing music together since we were teamed up during our HNC Music course at Aberdeen College. We were providing vocals and guitars for each others’ music and decided to join forces.

“We produced the album ourselves. We learned about sound engineering and music production as part of the course at college last year, so that was a big bonus.”

During the opening set the talented duo, simply known as Caroline and Ryan, played tracks from their debut album, Kiwi Tea which will be released in May 2010.
