Bio
Currently living in Brooklyn, New York, and having grown up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Carraway's music is indebted to both Midwestern sincerity and New York City's tough realism. Carraway bridges the two in songwriting that is deceptively simple. The songs are literary, but literary in a way that still retains clarity in the message and melody. The songs tell stories of travel across 21st-century America; touching on such timeless themes as growing up, loving and losing, and the endless search. Yet each of Carraway's songs is written and sung in a voice of a hard-won optimism, one that is constantly being challenged by the experiences in today's world. In short, these are the sparely arranged, personally crafted songs of songwriters like Townes Van Zandt and Ryan Adams, with the voice that is equal parts Neil Young and The Promise Ring and Maritime's Davey von Bohlen.
