"Austin's Mr. Everything"

Scrappy Jud Newcomb says, "I could get fancy here, but I think what needs to be said is Carrie is an honest songwriter with a deeply beautiful voice."

- Scrappy Jud Newcomb

"Singer/Songwriter"

Steve Poltz says, "Carrie's songs are like meat hooks in a slaughter house...they rip into your stomach lining and move up to your heart and all you can do is just hang there...and watch yourself bleed to death." - Steve Poltz

"San Antonio"

New Jersey-bred Engdahl apparently eschewed whatever passes for normal childhood pursuits in favor of singing and writing songs. Judging by the songs on her "Another Sunday Morning" disc, Engdahl is not a big fan of pulling punches or masking feelings. When it comes to writing and singing about life and love, Engdahl lays it all out there. "Sunglassed Heart" is on thing, "You'll Never Win" quite another. No matter whether you're a winner or a loser in the love department, you can relate to something Engdahl writes and sings. - San Antonio Express-News

Bio

New Jersey native Carrie Engdahl writes songs about love, longing, hope and disappointment. From a deep-rooted obsession with the movie Annie to mimicking Shirley Temple as a child, to Madonna in the 80’s and Grunge in the 90’s, it all led up to her finding (or perhaps it finding her) Outlaw Country, Blues and Folk music a little short of a decade ago, conveniently around the same time she started writing songs. The allure of the music is a mystery even after all these years, but all of these influences play a part in Carrie’s songwriting and it just works. Blending her pop sensibility and country tones, Carrie is as versatile in her emotions as she is with her music. She will take onlookers down to their deepest sorrows with bittersweet songs of heartbreak, only to bring them back up with her humorous and playful stage patter. Carrie delivers her material with such sincerity that audiences are quick to emote and relate with the music. A simple, yet rare trait that has made her a crowd favorite wherever she plays.

Carrie has shared stages with such songwriters as, Steve Poltz, Beaver Nelson, Scrappy Jud Newcomb and Ana Egge. She has participated in festivals in Austin, Texas that also featured the likes of Jim Boggia, Tommy Womack and Michelle Shocked. She performed at this year’s inaugural San Antonio Indie Music Fest and was one of the first artists to be featured on The Digital Café Tour (www.digitalcafetour.com). Recently Carrie's song "This is Why I'm Leaving" was featured on the famous "Idiot's Delight" radio program on WFUV hosted by Vin Scelsa. A local original music venue dubbed Carrie ‘The Sweetheart Of The Underpass’ and has hosted CarrieFest annually since 2003. Carrie’s band and song “Making Me Sad”, from her first release ‘Another Sunday Morning’ (EP 2006), was recently featured in the upcoming indie film Under The Raven’s Wing.

Carrie is currently in the process of recording demos of all of her outstanding new material, she has found her niche and is ready to make the world listen. Her hopes for the next year are to record her first full length CD, embark on consistent touring, and to create a buzz in other areas of the country as well as maintaining her notoriety in the northeast.

Her one consistent goal is to play the Conan O’Brien show someday. Carrie has performed all over the New York metropolitan area, Chattanooga, Austin, San Antonio, Milwaukee, San Diego, etc. Wherever she performs she leaves quite an impression that’s not easy to forget… you've got to see it yourself.
