Bio
Although a late bloomer to the music industry, Carrie Higgins' ambition to create music started early. Born in “Motown” in 1974, she was one of a highly musical family. Carrie’s real start was when she decided to try out for Honor and All-state choirs in high school and earned a spot in both 3 years running as a Mezzo Soprano.
Carrie is a versatile Soprano with a melodic, improvisational style, mixed with rock edge and soul. Though she adapts well to various tempos and styles of music, she is at her strongest as an organic, acoustic performer, wrapping a great melody (whether inventing her own or livening up a classic) around a strong jazzy, bluesy, or funky beat.
As a songwriter, she writes her own lyrics and melodies and tends toward New Folk with her melodic, story-telling style. Some of her strongest influences include: Whitney Houston, Heart, Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Co.), Brad Delp (Boston), Bonnie Raitt, Celine Dion and Stevie Wonder.
From 1998 to 2002, she was a strong contender for finalist in local Corporate-sponsored karaoke contests in the Phoenix area. Since 2004, she has gleaned live stage experience from classic rock, jazz, and folk open mic nights. As co-lead singer in a local jazz-blues-rock band called the Digital Blues in February 2009, she also participated in the Annual P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in Downtown Phoenix. She also enjoys teaching local kids to sing and perform at the Chandler ICAN center on a volunteer basis.
With a strong and clear vision to write and perform original music with her own group, her ultimate desire is to have her own show, connecting with audiences around the world, pioneering a new format that is part music concert, part motivational speaking conference, and part show- case for guest musicians and speakers including children, facilitating healing, soothing, and inspiration.
