The trio has performed and recorded since 2001. The members bring extensive experience in many different musical genres to bear, including jazz and popular music, Caribbean, Indian and African cultural genres, and European classical traditions to offer a fresh reinterpretation of jazz.

Biography

The Cascade Jazz Trio plays an extensive repertoire of over 200 pieces from Broadway and traditional tunes through the work of Charles Parker, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Ornette Coleman, as well as dozens of original compositions.

The Cascade Jazz Trio is experienced with concert stage performances as well as performing background music for dining or cocktails.

The trio has performed since 2001 in the Seattle area, in a wide variety of venues, from festivals to clubs to private events. Their premier CD release, “Valley Breezes”, contains all-original jazz including the Snoqualmie Suite, a jazz interpretation of the sounds and moods of the Snoqualmie Valley. Their second CD release, “mantras” explores a minimalist approach to jazz where repetitive themes evolve organically to expose the song form. The members bring extensive experience in many different musical genres to bear, including jazz and popular music, Caribbean, Indian and African cultural genres, and European classical traditions.

We've got over 200 tunes in our repertoire. About a dozen of them are originals, the rest are from the Jazz tradition including Ornette Coleman, Wayne Shorter, Steve Swallow, Scott LaFaro, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker and lots of Broadway show tunes.
