Casey Harshbarger impressed the judges with his fluid Les Paul tones and spidery runs.
Author:Michael Molenda -Editor in Chief of Guitar Player Magazine
Judges included Joe Satriani, Elliot Easton, Nuno Bettencourt, Steve Lukather, & Greg Howe. Also Mike Varney of Shrapnel Records - Guitar Player/New Bay Media
While Harshbarger relies on the liquid lead tone of influences such as Satch and Steve Vai, his composition invites a small battalion of styles to the party, resulting in a languid, mid- tempo track packed with soaring melodies, insistent riffs, a slide passage, stratospheric harmonies, cagey counterpoint lines, shreddy bits, and other goodies.

Bio
I play & teach guitar for a living. My philosophy on living is simple. Music creates communication among people from all walks of life & is central to creating a more peaceful & balanced society. I try & live with this in mind & strive to play music with all kinds of musicians. The guitar is my main focus & I love the sounds & expression this instrument can produce. I have been playing for over 20 years & have studied as many styles as possible. I would say I lean more towards blues, rock ,& jazz than other styles but I respect & appreciate all music! I teach guitar full-time & love watching my students learn & discover this amazing instrument!
