Bio

Born and raised in Arizona, Casey has been singing and playing instruments, from the guitar and piano to drums and banjo since the age of 9. Now 18, Casey is a proud American who has faith in God and his country. He writes and performs his own music, a fusion of country, rock, jazz and blues. Performing at festivals, clubs and talent contests from Arizona to Nashville, Casey is always honing his craft. He is a freshman at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona where he is a pre-med major.

In the summer of 2008, Casey attended "Deborah Gibson's Electric Youth," a performing arts camp. "It was one of the best experiences of my life," said Casey. "I would have never been able to get instruction from all those professionals in one place."

Casey was the selected performer from "Deborah Gibson's Electric Youth" for the South by Southwest (SXSW) 2009 Music Conference in Austin, Texas. "Casey was chosen because of his impressive talent, live performance skills and passion for music," said Camp Founder Deborah Gibson. The SXSW Underage Day Party is the first-ever effort from SXSW to recognize and highlight up-and-coming teen talent.

He released his sophomore EP, "Casey Lee Smith," in June of 2009. It was produced and recorded by Recording Artist & Broadway Star Deborah Gibson, Gavin MacKillop (Miley Cyrus, The Goo Goo Dolls) and Platinum Award Winning Mixer & Producer Rudy Haeusermann. Casey wrote and played guitar on all three songs. Grammy Nominated Guitarist Bryan Austin, who also sings backing vocals with Deborah Gibson, joined him on guitar.

Casey also has the distinction of being one of three finalists in the Country category of Session II for The John Lennon Songwriting Contest (JLSC). The song nominated, “Losing You,” is available on his EP. In the 2009, Casey’s song “Never Stood Taller” was named the Grand Prize Winner of the Gospel/Inspirational Song Category. “Never Stood Taller” is also available on his EP or you can buy by track on ITunes or CDBaby.

In October 2010, Casey will be releasing his newest CD titled, “This Is So Me” which was recorded at Black River Recording and Sound Stage in Nashville. Bryan Austin and Hayden Nicoles produced and Gavin MacKillop, Platinum Award Winning Mixer & Producer Rudy Haeusermann. Rich Redmonds, Kurt Allison, Tuley Kennedy (Jason Aldean’s band) and Dan Bryant (Clint Black’s band) accompanied Casey on drums, guitar, bass guitar and key board.
