Bio

It’s not often that an artist can play his first show to a capacity crowd of his own fans. From the start, Casey Petersen’s engaging personality and musical talent has continued to attract growing audiences throughout the Upper Midwest.

Petersen, along with Dan Krzykowski (lead guitar/vocals), Sam Allen (drums/vocals), and Matt Meyer (bass), have come together with the goal of writing, recording, and performing original acoustic rock music, drawing from their diverse musical influences and personal experiences. The first release, a five song EP entitled The Spin Around EP, was released in late 2003.

The Spin Around EP was recorded over the course of a year at several studios in the Twin Cities metro area, including Integral Studio with engineer Ev (Soul Asylum, Happy Apple, 12rods). The collection of songs represents an incredible amount of musical ability, captivating melodies and heartfelt words. The songwriting is principally done by Petersen, who admits that his songwriting is not meant to change anyone’s life. “I would rather write music and lyrics that people can relate to and feel comfortable with,” he says. “The ability to connect with an audience by writing with reference to shared experiences is my goal in making music.”

In its active life as a group, The Casey Petersen Band has performed at various well-known Twin Cities venues including O’Gara’s Garage (St. Paul, MN), The 400 Bar (Minneapolis, MN) and The Whole (University of Minnesota). The band has also played at The Annex Nightclub in Madison, Wisconsin and The Stone’s Throw in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The Casey Petersen Band has also shared the stage with distinguished national and regional acts such as Paul Christianson, Tim Mahoney, Pete Schmidt and Matt Wertz.

In its live show, the Casey Petersen Band is able to generate incredible amounts of energy on stage. The Band will generally integrate an appropriate and clever cover tune or two with its original songs, using the familiar songs as a means to further connect the audience to the show. The Casey Petersen Band has established its name in the Midwest music scene and continues to gain momentum going into 2004.
