"Big Sam's Funky Nation at Tipitina's 11.16.07"

JAMBASE SAYS: "Guitarist Casey Robinson's Scofield-meets-Hazel playing heartily mesh(es) with the almost funk-metal core, his twisted rhythms and jazz drenched solos further solidifying BSFN's foundation."- - Jambase.com

"Neds List: Best of 2008"

American composer, musician, producer and musicologist Ned Sublette who has written several books on New Orleans music touted Casey Robinson's compositional skills in his 2008 annually published list of top albums released. Check out the exerpt below!

Ned Sublette:

"I had two #1s this year. If it were to total up the number of minutes of playing time a record spent on my CD player, #1 would be Peace, Love & Understanding (why did they have to call it that? has nothing to do with Elvis Costello), a largely instrumental album by Big Sam's Funky Nation. It's a real band -- make that, a real party band -- and they sound like it. My choicest cut was #7, "Exploding Hearts & Minds," composed by the band's guitarist, Casey Robinson. They could set up and reproduce this album in your living room, and you’d want them to. I couldn’t stop listening to it."
