I2G is here with C.E.D. how’s it going?

Everything is everything, and I am really trying to push my career to the next level so I appreciate this opportunity to showcase my music to the world. I went on your website and checked it out and I seen you had alot of prominent artists and I was impressed by that.

Thank you I appreciate that. Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in music and who are some of your musical influences out there coming up.

Long story short, I got my start from my father, he had me in the studio when I was 5 years old. I would go to sessions with him and his friends that would play guitar, but I got my full fledged start in 1999 I started working with different producers and I also starting interning at Roc-A-Fella Records and small boutique labels. That taught me the ins and outs of the music industry, a mentor of mine, who had his own boutique business, about 6 years ago he suggested to go the route of doing my own thing since the industry was going more the digital route.

What projects currently are you working on that are getting ready to drop soon?

Back in January I released a single called The Ingredients Of Life featuring a R&B artist named Hassan Ferrell. It has been getting a lot of play on internet radio and they are playing it in other countries. Currently I just finished recording a 3 song EP called A Hustler Haven and we are going to release that in July, probably around July 25th.

The songs on there include The Ingredients Of Life, My Fam and a song called Real Talk.

Do you have any videos that are getting ready to drop soon as well?

Right now with my publicist what we are trying to do is create a buzz, so we are holding off right now on doing any videos. What I do have right now is a lot of impromptu things. I had a performance in Brooklyn recently and it was a last minute and at the performance I did the new single The Ingredients Of Life. Someone in the crowd actually recorded my performance and I had that video on my company website. At this point me and my publicist are working on getting more shows, more interviews, so hopefully by or before July 25th, the buzz will grow and I will be able to do more touring.

I want to tour and do more shows locally and eventually tour nationally and internationally as well.

What are your thoughts on hip hop in 2012?

There is a lot of interesting music but what I am seeing now is more internet exposure for artists. Whether it is hip hop sites, online magazines, MTV, BET, you are seeing more outlets geared towards not just music but actually interviewing and showing the ins and outs of the music industry. I think that is important for fans and people in the industry to keep up on it. Back in the day you had the Source, Word Up but now you have more websites and TV networks are changing their format to keep up with the times.

There is this new show on MTV that I was watching today, I forgot the name of it but it was a roundtable discussion with publicists, writers, radio hosts and program directors and they are giving their take on what going on in the music industry today. To sum it up in my opinion the music industry as far as hip hop music is concerned, and even other genres of music, it’s going through a change where there is actually more acceptance with the digital age and sales of music.

This is going to be the way that music is going to be purchased for a long time. If I go to the studio and make an album or single and I put it online for feedback or for free, that is as good as gold. People go online to check for music, news, everything so what better way to advertise what you are doing. There has been a huge transition with the internet and the music industry and now that we are about 10 years into it, people are finding more ways to make it work business wise and become more comfortable.

Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates?

I have a friend of mine that does electro hip hop and he wants me to open up for him in London. His name is Hashim and he is an electro hip hop artist from the 80’s and he just recently did a video to one of his songs and it is around a million hits online. He is doing a 25th anniversary of his song and he invited me to go on tour so we are working on that right now.

I just finished recording my EP which is coming out July 25th, so I hope to have shows locally before the EP drops. I did a show in Brooklyn a while back and it was a good feeling. That was my first show, but yeah I am open to booking other shows as well.

What is your website information?

Alright well that is all the questions I have for you, appreciate you getting down for the interview. Is there any last words or shoutouts you want to get out there to the people?

Right now I would like to give a shout out to Grit PR, they have really been grinding hard for me. All the internet radio stations that are playing my music right now. Thanks to Hashim as well. - I2G

"C.E.D. Interview"

Who are you and how long have you been active? Cedric Streeter aka C.E.D. (Cash Every Denomination) and I am CEO of Kaos Records, LLC. Been in business for roughly 6 years.
What or who do you think will be big in the next year? Indie artists will dominate the industry next year, period.

What’s your setup? How does a track move from initial thought to finished effort? The process? To sum it all up…I don’t take shortcuts.
How has your style evolved and changed over the time since you first started? Where do you think that your flow will go to in the months and years in the future? The flow changes due to my personal taste, competition, latest trend and what the followers expect from me artistically as an artist.
On any Youtube video, there are countless genres thrown around for any song. How does that help or hurt music and musicians, and what genre(s) would your music fall into? It doesn’t hurt to mix or mash up genres when creating music. What could hurt is not controlling and understanding what your creating.
How do you feel things are different between parts of the world? Diversity, language, culture, social/economic status…all make up the world we inhabit. It is challenging to try to understand what goes on behind our own neighborhood.
Musicians usually talk about a dream concert, or those earlier acts they would like to play with. What would be your dream lineup? Metallica, Snoop, Rage Against The Machine, 50 Cent, Jamiroquai, Rakim, KRS One
We’ve heard and seen some crazy things at concerts; what incredible or crazy times have you had on the road? Performing my current single The Ingredients of Life for the first time at a small venue in Brooklyn and this lady rushes to the stage and starts waving her hands side to side. It didn’t scare me but I was a little startled and more shocked about the response…
Are drugs/alcohol good or bad for rap or is are the presence of those things just something based out of real life? Unfortunately they are apart of reality and I feel it should be dealt with on a case by case basis. Me personally, legalize mariajuana and drink alcohol responsibly.

What does the rest of 2012 hold for you, and how can readers connect with you and your music? Get my single The Ingredients of Life @ online music stores and Hustler’s Haven drops July 25th.

SINGLE REVIEW:

New York based Rapper CED a/k/a Cash Every Denominator just released his latest single entitled The Ingredients of Life feat. Hassan Farrow. This latest release is from his forthcoming EP entitled Hustler’s Haven (Kaos Records). CED is making quite a name for himself regionally collaborating with the likes of Roc-A-Fella Records, Def Jam Records and Universal Records, MCA Records and Tommy Boy Records. The EP will be available through Tunecore n July 25th, 2012. Until then, listen for the singles to heat up the airwaves across North America. For more information about C.E.D. please visit www.kaosrecordsllc.com.

The single gently takes off with hooky Jazz piano against a thick as a brick rhythm section. The bass driven melody and methodical vocal build from C.E.D. are to die for. Right from the start the performance and songwriting skills of C.E.D. are never called into question. The transition from smooth intro, first verse, first chorus split is shall I say flawless. As this song slowly unfolds I can hear many rap influences reminiscent of classic Biggie Smalls, Jay Z, Big L and even Crooked I. But despite this C.E.D. has a musical signature that is hard to pigeonhole. The single itself is an impressive blend of Dance Pop, Hip Hop, Rap and even a dash of Soul and R&B. What I like the most about this single is its overall marketability as it touches many musical genera’s without trying to hard to do so. The production touches and sampling is clearly above the bar and the melody and message are a masterful combination. The vocal reinforcements and harmonies mix up the single quite well. You will also notice impressive sampling, well placed sonic touches against a hooky vocal front. Now turning our attention over to C.E.D. - let me go on record and say he delivers the goods (visuals and vocals) and holds nothing back as an entertainer - performer. The lyrical content has all the urban swagger you would expect from a single of this caliber, and the X-Factor of C.E.D. is off the charts. The actual songwriting is brilliant and provides a lot of musical variety and perspective. All in all it's a short but sweet musical teaser.

Overall this latest single from C.E.D. is consistent, melodic and highly entertaining. From start to finish it's an impressive snapshot of music At the end of the day it packs a powerful punch. C.E.D. has potential to touch a huge fanbase with this single. It has an attitude, lyrics that make the case, and a melody that sticks with you long after the single runs its course. I have to admit this single sucked me in like a powerful drug and refused to let me go. The production strokes are effective, the songwriting brilliant and the rap persona from C.E.D. will suck you in as well. Tthis single will catch fire this Summer and bring C.E.D. well deserved attention in 2012 for.

C.E.D. has proven himself with this latest piece no doubt, and is clearly set up for success as a hot new marquee talent from New York.

Bio

Born and raised in Upper Manhattans, Washington Heights/Dyckman area, Cedric Streeter aka C.E.D. (which stands for Cash Every Denomination) learned to love music at the age of 5 while playing drums in a recording studio with his father Arthur Streeter. Growing up in the era of Hip Hop, C.E.D. formed his love for the music listening to radio shows such as The Kool DJ Red Alert Show and Marley Marls show on 107.5 WBLS every Friday and Saturday night.

Throughout high school C.E.D. would freestyle/rhyme for fun, but it wasnt until the age of 21 that he realized his talent and began to write poems and songs. In 1994, C.E.D. moved to Stockholm, Sweden to pursue a modeling opportunity (but dont let the pretty boy image fool you) and landed his first speaking role in a commercial for Telia AB (a Swedish telephone company) which also led to being featured in a print ad from the same company.

After returning to the U.S., C.E.D. furthered his knowledge of the music business by working behind the scenes as an assistant/intern for Oz Music Group and street team/intern at Roc-A-Fella Records. Between working and interning C.E.D. still found time to follow his love and passion for music by recording and has performed on stage battling MCs at SOBs in Manhattan and at a BMI showcase at DownTime. In November of 2004, Mr. Streeter became founder and C.E.O. of Kaos Records, LLC.  Hustlers Haven is the debut Ep by C.E.D and the first single, The Ingredients of Life is receiving airplay and positive reviews from the press.
