"Kid Cred"

Sun Mar 11 - Adelaide Festival Centre

4 STARS * * * *

This high-energy interactive act gets toddlers to young teens grooving to the beat. The culprit is Kid-Hop, a child friendly version of hip hop, with rhyming, rapping, scratching and song from these self-proclaimed Swedish Superheroes.

Mario, Fabio and Coco are switched-on musical "brothers". They have a handle on comedy, contagious break dancing moves and some very cute electro-toy instruments.

Their material is funny and kid-wise and every parents dream - things like too much TV and junk food are declared definately uncool.

"Kid-Hop"

The Piano Bar, Festival Centre, Sun Mar 11

A happy audience of kids and their families were grooving to the beats laid down by the Casio Brothers during their first ever Kid-Hop show.

With songs about healthy eating, staying active, showbags and dancing, the exciting high-energy show introduced the fundamentals of hip hop in a fun, interactive way.

Teaching the audience beat-boxing, call-and-response and funky choreography, Fabio, Mario and Coco ensured that everyone had a great time. - Rip It Up Magazine

"Swedish Superheroes Of Kid-Hop"

Piano Bar, Festival Centre
Sun 11 March - Sun 1 April

Fabio, DJ Mario and their lilac-haired sister Coco have developed a form of entertainment called kid-hop, a frenetic mixture of rapping, singing, dancing, DJ scratching and aerobics, all accompanied by Casio keyboards.

The children who overcame their self-consciousness and skipped down to the front of the stage twirled, stamped and clapped constantly, singing along when Fabio and Coco pranced through them with microphones.

The band's messages are overwhelmingly positive, from eating healthily to turning off the television to play outside: "Her bike has rusted in the shed and dust has settled on her head!"

The Casios have found their niche: seeing them freely handing out stickers and cheerfully signing autographs after the show, it's clear that kid-hop will go far.

"YHA Adelaide Peace Festival 18.9.05"

I was there to catch the crazy antics of the Casio Brothers and they didn’t disappoint. Brothers Fabio & Mario are mad Swedish hip-hoppers obsessed with Casio synths. Fabio's prize possession is his Hotkeyz red-lightening-bolt strap-on model! These guys were introduced by Steve Cannane (Triple J) as the exception to the 'guys can't look good in all white' rule.

Opening with a track criticising our involvement in the recent Iraq War, 'Georgie Porgie Puddin' and Pie' debuted at the Peace Festival to thunderous applause. Their hit ‘Show Bag’ was another winner, putting smiles on the faces of everyone who'd ever been to the Royal Adelaide Show... a tribute to the joy and trauma of the whole experience.

Mario’s use of the theremin was also impressive, fusing spaced-out vibes with 80's electro... the crowd chuckled on, entertained by comical lyrics and deadly serious choreography.

"Casios at Schoolies 2005"

"Very talented, very professional, excellent with the crowd and would very much like to get them again for 2006. With the Casio Brothers I was so impressed with the portion of their set that did see that I told the main tent venue manager I wanted them in there the following night to perform before Joel Turner. Great work guys." - Shane Shepherd - Project Coordinator: Encounter Youth - Schoolies Week

"Casios in Right Key"

...with unfailingly entertaining songs and hysterical, yet gravity-defying dance antics, it should come as no surprise the act has also been tentatively asked about venturing to the prestigious Edinburgh Festival (much like Adelaide's own Fringe).

The act cleverly had the BDO show filmed (on four cameras!) and will be aired on Channel 31's AWESAM TV.

Although their appearance at the official BDO after-show party was cancelled, Mario, Fabio and dancer extraordinaire Coco Cassette shmoozed with The White Stripes, The Stooges (not Iggy Pop, he goes to bed early these days), Franz Ferdinand and End of Fashion, and were seen playing air guitar on the Dance Floor to AC/DC alongside Gerling, Wolfmother, Kings of Leon and The Go! Team until the wee hours. - Sunday Mail - 12.2.06

"Moomba Waterfest"

The Casio Brothers communicate street wise messages to the kids through funky hip-hop tunes, creative break-dancing moves and oodles of Swedish humour!" - Carina Cargill - Events Coordinator, City of Melbourne

In 2006, The Casio Brothers were the 'Face of the Adelaide Fringe' itself when they represented the world's second largest arts festival in Virgin Blue and Qantas magazine ads. They also appeared on the cover of 'Eventful Adelaide' magazine, which saw 1.5 million copies distributed in major newspapers throughout Australia and NZ in the lead up to the Fringe. The Casios not only shared the front cover with key SA sporting heroes, Fabio was 'da man' on the double page Fringe spread inside and is sometimes referred to as Fabio 'Fringe Face' Casio.
