"Catch Wreck - The Young & The Restless"

As a Lakers fan, Boston is definitely on my sniper scope radar right about now. Hometown bias aside, I know a good thing when I see it -- or hear it. Enter Catch Wreck: a Bean Town emcee that spits. hot. fiyah © Dave Chappelle. CW effectively toes the line between pop sensibilities mixed with neo-Paris/dead prez get-up-stand-up subject matter. His new mixtape, The Young & The Restless, is available for purchase now. Cop & support. - Hiphopisread.com

"Catch Wreck – Restless (produced by Session)"

I haven’t heard anything from Catch Wreck in quite a while until he sent this over and homie’s stepped everything up 100%, the beat choice is great, the lyrics are top notch, and the general presentation is intelligent and informed without being off putting like a lot of people come across as a TRYING to be intelligent… the informed will definitely like this…
Catch Wreck just put out his latest project that’s available over @ BandCamp for $8, homies giving you a full length original project for less than a super sized fast food meal! - thatsmajor.info

"Catch Wreck The Young & The Restless"

If you dug "Restless", I wanted to let you know that Catch Wreck's The Young & The Restless is available on Bandcamp for $8. Features includ NYOIL and Chill Breeze, and the tape mixes it up with freestyles AND original tracks. Homey has this new revolution feel to his work, kind of like a 2010 dead prez, Public Enemy thing going on. Proper Hip-Hop with proper mental elevation. "I'm making music to make a difference", as Wreck says. - RocktheDub.com

Bio

Hailing from Boston Massachusetts and coming into being on the 24th of January in the year 1989, Catch Wreck grew up on the streets of Roxbury’s Egleston Square. He drew influence from the record shelves of his parents, particularly the works of Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, James Brown, and Miles Davis. As he grew older, he would become inspired by such artists as Public Enemy, Rage Against the Machine, Poor Righteous Teachers, Wu-Tang Clan, M.O.P., Redman, Busta Rhymes, Big Puninsher, Pharoahe Monch, and Dead Prez. With an understanding that everything is political he began studying the works of Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey and Che Guevara. It was at this point in the 7th grade he began to explore hip-hop's origins in a political context.

He immersed himself in all elements; B-Boying as early as 5th grade, joining the graffiti scene in 9th and 10th grade before finding his calling in MC-ing. His first performance took place at the Timilty Middle School. Bathroom ciphers during lunchtime provided him an opportunity to hone his skills and develop his develop his talent.

At age 14 he met Public Enemy while they were shooting a video in Boston. He was granted the opportunity to travel to Long Island to record for the first time and learn from his role models in the Public Enemy camp. Kyle Jason and DJ Johnny Juice are due credit for the beginnings of Catch’s understanding of the music industry.

From these experiences Catch reinvented himself as a member of the struggle faced by people of color and a life-long soldier for the cause. His music comes from the reality faced by its listeners and sheds light on what it means to not simply be a youth of color in the world today but also to be a voice of dissent in an industry of artists willing to place marketability before self-respect and integrity.
