Category 5 Band, with the help of main sponsors MGM Grand Detroit, Morgan Stanley and Smith Barney, are pleased to announce that over $10,000 was raised to support The Samaritan House & Forgotten Harvest charities.

The Samaritan House is a community organization devoted to serving individuals and families to relieve suffering and preserve dignity by providing food, shelter and assistance. The Forgotten Harvest was formed to fight hunger and waste. Last year over 12.5 million pounds of food was rescued from area groceries, wholesalers, farmers, dairies, caterers and restaurants which would otherwise go to waste, more information at http://www.forgottenharvest.org .

Category 5 Band brings the sound and style of Arena Rock back to the club. By playing a combination of cover material that ranges from everyday and current dance favorites to epic artists such as Boston, Van Halen, Journey, SRV and Rush, Category 5 entertains any audience from the dance crowd to the hard-core music lover. They believe a well tuned performance and giving back to the community is their secret to success. “We as a band as well as our families are very fortunate even in these tough times. We think it pretty cool that we can actually rock out for a couple good causes.” Said band leader Perry Zaremba. “We’ll do what it takes for a good time and it feels good that we can do our part to help the needy in our community.” For more information on Category 5 check the web site http://www.cat5rocks.com or call (248) 249-4020.

Bio

A Category 5 storm is a culmination of elements and events coming together and occurring at the right time to create something powerful. This made Category 5 a fitting name for our band. As we are a culmination of elements and events that came together at the right time to make powerful music.

The band was formed in late 2006 as a cover project. Once together, we started to write original material and found that it had an appeal to our audiences. This appeal continues to drive us to write and produce the best songs possible. With the completion of our first EP – “Off The Ivory Coast” in December 2009, we hope to widen the appeal of our original music to audiences beyond the geographic area we currently perform in. ( Off the Ivory coast is where most Hurricanes form).

With everyone in the bands love of the Arena Rock style, our live performances project the same feel and intensity you would experience at a large arena concert. All elements of production are important to the band. Sound, lighting and musical performance all come together to leave a lasting impression on an audience and have them wanting more!

From hard hitting original music to cover material that will blow audiences away, Category 5 is a high energy band that will entertain any audience!
