Bio

Cat is a singer/songwriter from Amsterdam (NL). After climbing the corporate ladder for over 10 years, trying to juggle her career and her passion, she realized that no one has ever written a hit song about corporate life, that no one ever would and that no one would ever listen to it if someone did.

So she took a step. A big step. She trusted her instincts and stepped down the ladder. She went to NYU to study music recording and recorded two of her favorite songs, 'Reality' and 'Step into the Light' together with NYC musicians Sammy Merendino, Marc Shulman and Tony Coniff. She took the recordings back to Amsterdam and mixed and mastered them herself.

Songs with a certain feel, a certain maturity. Not afraid of using irony, humor and self-mockery in her lyrics her songs tell all about life through Cat's eyes. With titles such as Dogs Don't Dance and 'Welcome To My Hell' she often leaves people wondering whether the song is about them.

Cat is influenced by all sorts of artists and genres. She has been compared to Aimee Mann. Despite all that, however, her music seems to retain her signature. Not out of vanity, or self-centeredness, but just because the songs come out that way...

Cat has performed at several small and larger venues in Amsterdam, both with her band as well as (semi) acoustic. Recently, Cat has been selected to perform at The Next Stage (www.thenextstage.eu), a battle of unsigned Dutch and Belgian bands held troughout The Nehterlands and Belgium. Her songs are also getting airplay at several national and international (internet)radio stations.

Cat has recently participated in the DutchFlu Songwriter's Day (www.myspace.com/dutchflu), a songwriter's collaboration project under the flag of the Amsterdam Dance Event (Europe's largest dance event, www.ade.com). DutchFlu was hosted by Dutch Labels Walboomers and Earforce, who'd selected 25 national and international songwriters (among which songwriters of A Balladeer, Ilanois and Valerius) to join forces and write a total of 8 marketable songs.

Cat was accepted to the Rotterdam conservatory Songwriting course recently and is working on new, fresh repertoire.....one of them is 9Lives
