Bio

Born the summer of 2009 in Connecticut, Catfish Phillips is a reggae/rock based group with a variety of musical backgrounds and influences. The three founding members consisting of James Mckeon (Guitar/Vocals), JT Hvizdak (Bass/Vocals), and Jimmy Chapman (Drums) where brought together by their love and passion for music. In hopes that they could make waves in the vibrant Northeastern music scene.

They quickly hit the studio and self produced their first EP "....We Play For Beer" in 2010 as a three piece act. Shortly after the services of Dave Lafleche on lead guitar would be added to round out the bands sound.

Though young, the band has seen significant line up changes. With the first coming shortly after the recording of their second recording, first full length CD "Back Ass Playground Bullshit " in 2010. With the departure of Dave.

With a new solid replacement, Andrew Donnelly, the band went back to work gigging, and working on new material for the next year and a half. Building up a solid following in Eastern Connecticut based around a tight live show, with catchy hooks and riffs mixed into a unique sound for the area. The band was back on track, and at the point where it wanted back in the studio, and in the fall of 2011 they did just that.

They eagerly began recording their second self released record "Still Plays For Beer", but where soon faced with unusually difficult circumstances. Shortly after the first tracks had been laid down, they where informed that Andrew would be taking a break from the band to pursue a new avenue in life. Unsettled, the band went back to work on the new EP only to be letdown a second time in as many months. This time by their producer who wanted to cut all ties from the project, citing personal differences. After a thorough search the band was able to find a new studio and finish up the project and released "Still Plays For Beer" early in 2012.

A solid CD release show, was followed up by the bands first ever Whalie Award win, for "Best Rock Band of 2012." This win reinvigorated the band which has since welcomed the talents of guitarist Ron Lynch III, on lead guitar and vocals. As well as a brand new exciting sound brought by the very accomplished Geoff Moores on trumpet.

2013 is poised to be the bands best year thus far, with new music and new opportunities presenting them self daily. Keep your ears open, and watch for Catfish Phillips!
