Catherine Rose Smith

The focus of Catherine's music is on delivering original, enticing melodies that follow an unpredictable but enjoyable path and invite the listener to open up new pathways of thought. She seeks to deliver a musical experience that draws from such unique influences as Billie Holiday, 60's psychedelia, African percussion, the new "freak folk" movement. Catherine has a theatrical penchant for melodies, having performed on the theater stage for many years.

Catherine her EP "Morning" in 2013. She is very excited about creating new material and continues to be influenced by several favorites- The Fleet Foxes, Joni Mitchell, Bon Iver, Gillian Welch and Jeff Buckley.

Two of Catherine's recent songs- Oh my Maker and Lighter Load, won honorable mentions in the West Coast Songwriter's contest.

Catherine graduated with honors  with a BM in popular music from University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. She is now focusing on her songwriting, expanding her craft to include different genres and performing in the SF bay area and LA.

Her Lyon and Healy Troubadour lever harp is beckoning and has she looks forward to working it into her repertoire. She is always looking for new ways to add harmony to her music. She hopes you enjoy it!
