Bio

The music that I bring is music for the soul - both in meditative reflective songs and in uplifting energetic songs. I am a singer-songwriter who has been trained in classical piano, but have branched out in learning various world recorders, ukulele, and singing. My influences have come from a strong spiritual background, with gospel music, choral music, and inspirational music at my core. I've been strongly influenced by the modern day Pilgrimage community of Taize in France where the prayer/chants hold an ancient yet modern approach. I've been influenced by the Blues, Rock as well as Baroque Composers, Classical composers, and the Romantics.
The music I bring into the community is sometimes a solo experience playing piano, singing, playing ukulele, using a singing bowl, and playing various recorders. Sometimes I perform with a band of various musicians - performing both classical, inspirational, and world sounds. Band members have included violinist Calvin Dyck, world percussionist Boris Sichon, guitarist Kevin Boese, pianist Nelson Boschman, harpist Karin Dart and many others.
My passion is to bring healing and hope through my music because music is what healed me. I know that music has a power beyond the spoken word. This past spring, my nephew Christian Friesen died suddenly and unexpectedly. I sang for 1500 people at his funeral the song, Love Shines. It has become a significant song now for many because it held the reality of the darkness we were all feeling and yet the ray of hope that Love is stronger than our deepest darkness. This is what I want to share with the world.
