Cathy Bolton

Cathy Bolton

Smooth and Crystal Clear vocals describe what you hear when you hear Cathy Bolton sing. Her songwriting, and songs that she chooses to perform reach deep and into your heart as she touches on life experiences known to many. Her sense of humor touches on the lighter side of life.

IN OTHER'S WORDS.....................Cathy's Friend, the late, great Dennis Weaver, Actor, Environmentalist, Author and Human Being Extraordinaire said about his friend, "Cathy's music speaks to your heart and sings to your soul!"
HiSTORY...........Singing since she was a little girl, Cathy says, "I came in singing, and have been singing ever since. There is a song for every thing, and every experience of life, and much is worth singing about!" STYLE.....................Folk and country are her roots, and folk was her prominent choice throughout her teen years. She is self taught on the guitar - picking it up at the age of 13 and learning any song that resonated with her and that she felt she could do justice to. Pop Rock & light Blues adds extra flavor to her style.
MUSICAL INFLUENCES.......................... Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Joni Mitchell, Peter Paul and Mary, Bob Dylan, John Denver, Linda Rostadt and Carly Simon were major influences. Later, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, Pam Tillis, Suzy Bogguss, Reba McEntire and other such country artists became among her favorites. While working with bands in the mid to late 80's Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar, Patty Smyth and Chrissie Hynde influenced her style for more upbeat musical performances.
THE JOURNEY............"I kept going back to solo work in between putting bands together and working with them. When it was obvious that most players weren't as serious about this being their livelihood, I stayed with the solo work, which has assisted in making my living for 16 years now. It is with Gratitude that I continue my solo work as fans around the globe respond with appreciation. Having traveled to, and performed for audiences in, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Australia and the United States, opportunities to meet thousands of people continue.
CONCERT OPENERS..............Opening in concert for Dan Seals and Toby Keith, and sharing the stage with many seasoned recording artists only continues to satisfy her appetite for more of the same.
SONGWRITING..............Cathy's song writing is about life experiences, the good, and the not-so-good. It seems to touch people as they relate through whatever experience they are in the midst of. "We're all in this game of life together and music makes it easier to get through some of the tough stuff. I am honored to have my music do that for folks.
And the fun stuff? There's plenty of humor, and plenty of fun music to go with it."
Cathy is currently touring in support of her latest release BACK TO MY ROOTS - A Folk Album, her 8th recording.

Years ago - I thought I’d outgrown – all that I’d come to know
Mysteries - yet to explore – were out there in the great unknown
**I go – back to my roots - Back to the place where I come from
**Back to my roots - Back to the place that I call home
**I go back - I go back - I go back - Back to my roots
When I was young – I looked ahead
*I couldn’t wait to get from there to here
*Now years have gone – I see that I - glance back – full circle I’ve come
I find myself– finding myself – looking back through the passage of time
Truth revealed through images past - Now treasures of the future I find

Colors change along Whispering Creek
Soon there will be snow
As I walk I can recall - when Crystal Waters flowed
Sunshine glitters on Whispering Creek
The air I breathe is pure
I close my eyes - I see this world
How it once appeared

Ooh whisper to me now
That everything's alright
Ooh whisper to me now
That everything's okay
I will hear above the noise
So whisper to me now

What have we done to this land that once was
Untouched by hunger of greed
What have we done to this land that once was
Fertile and ready for seed
It's quiet and peaceful on Whispering Creek
My soul remembers when
All the world was pure like Whispering Creek
Tell me it's not the end

Ooh whisper to me now
That everything's alright
Ooh whisper to me now
That everything's okay
I will hear above the noise
so Whisper to me now

Set List

A typical set list runs an hour or so - and the songs chosen to perform depends on the crowd and the venue.
Most concerts are 2 to 2-1/2 hour in length with one hour sets and a break halfway between the two. Breaks are kept to a maximum of 20 minutes, if possible.
The repertoire can be 50% original and 50% cover tunes as we find that audiences do enjoy songs that they know and recognize. If it's a crowd that is familiar with Cathy's original songs, more of those are performed.
