To Whom It May Concern:
This is a letter of support for Ms. Cathy Hutchinson, a Fredericton-based musician who will be applying for a showcase at the CBC Galaxie of Rising Stars event coming up in Fredericton.
I am a full-time musician based in Fredericton and have been performing with various groups at festivals, clubs and other events around the Maritimes/Quebec for close to 25 years. Since January of 2006, I've hosted a weekly jam-session in a local venue and Ms. Hutchinson has attended this event several times over the last couple of years.
I’ve watched and listened to her play drums in many of the several bands she’s involved with and I’ve also heard her play solo performing her original music and backing it up with vocals and guitar. She is a solid, tasteful drummer, a fabulous guitar player who knows the meaning of dynamics and has a great voice to back all of this up. Her songs can be sweet one moment and rock the next moment and they all come from the heart.
Ms. Hutchinson’s drive and determination to play more, learn more and record is motivating. She’s recently back from Nashville with her first recording completed and it is great work in my humble opinion; fantastic players and well-produced.
The above said, the fact that she is a very talented musician is enhanced even more as this woman never stops working towards, and assisting in, finding a cure for Autism, and caring for her own autistic child. One song on her CD called “I’m In Here” is a beautiful song written from the perspective of an autistic child; half of all proceeds from the sale of this song go towards finding a cure.
Cathy is a true singer-songwriter who has recorded with top industry professionals and she’ll impress you with her performance along with the positive energy she brings to a room.

Bio
Cathy Hutch (Hutchinson) was born in New Brunswick, Canada, and started teaching herself to play the guitar by the age of nine. At eleven, she was writing songs, poetry and short stories, and over the years, Cathy additionally taught herself to play several other instruments and went on to play them in various dance bands throughout the ‘80’s.
After a 16 year hiatus from performing in order to raise her daughter Kristy, who has profound autism, Cathy returned to the music scene in 2005. Two years later she found herself in Nashville to record her debut album of 10 original songs. Her first single; "I'm In Here" was co-written and sung with B.J. McKelvie, a fellow parent of an autistic child; this song was adopted as the anthem for "Run The Dream"; a cross-Canada run by Jonathon Howard in order to raise funding and awareness for people living with autism. Her follow-up single, "I'm Not Afraid Anymore" is a toe-tapping country-rocker about chasing your dreams that gets folks out on the dance floor every time!
Cathy Hutch lives in Darlings Island, NB and divides her time between her two passions, music and photography; advocating for autism awareness and Chrysalis House (a shelter for homeless young women for which she penned the song “Not Goin’ Back”) and enjoying time with her family and friends. She is the recipient of the 2008 Dianne London Award for most outstanding female artist who contributes to her community, and of an "Oscar for Autism" award for her song "I'm In Here".
