Bio
I grew up singing songs from the 40s that I learned from my parents on long road trips. My mother has always been an inspiration to me with her vocal and piano talents and has encouraged me since early on to keep music a part of my life.
I studied classical piano for 12 years in my youth, sang with an all-girls swing choir in high school and participated in high school musicals. After a long stretch of musical dormancy during college, law school and baby-producing years, I got my toes back in the performance waters by joining a small ensemble group in church, signing on as a cantor, joining a local women's choir and taking three semesters of a masters level night-club jazz performance class at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music.
Singing jazz has become a thrilling mid-life pursuit that takes me back to the era of Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughn and Hoagy Carmichael. Jazz is a form of communication that is uniquely American and a part of our history. It is my delight to take audiences along with me for the ride.
