Bio

"Songstress gives it her all, whatever the stage." - John Barry, music writer for the Poughkeepsie Journal.
John had not planned on doing a review on my music; he was on his way to hear a band playing next door. But he heard me performing out on the deck of a nearby restaurant, and stopped in to see who was singing. My performance impressed him enough to write a review on me - instead of the band next door.
I have been playing for the past 12 years in the Hudson Valley, and I know how to give an audience what they want. I have a large repetoire of cover tunes , and hearing familiar favorites makes people feel good. But when I ask for requests, it is also very likely that I will be asked to play another original tune. My songs may be tales of my own experiences and hardships, but other people often tell me that I must have "picked their brain" - that my songs speak to them in a very personal way. And that makes people feel understood - which also makes them feel good.
Overall, my tunes have a relaxed, melodic pop/rock feel; but I blend in a variety of other styles (country, jazz, blues, etc.) to keep things interesting. Rod Ames, a Texas music writer, described my music as "refreshing, with a style all her own."
I released my first CD, Days Like These, in 2003. Co-produced with multi-talented Scott Petito, (who also played extensively throughout the CD,) the 12 original tracks center around the topics of love, life, and hope in the face of adversity. Wrote John Barry, "Days Like These" offers songs that could easily be climbing their way up the charts."
From the fast-tempo first track, "Mission," to the jazz-infused piano tune, "Into the Wilderness," "...it is the story behind each song that keeps the listener intrigued" (Annie Reuter, music writer.) "Bethany's Garden" is a haunting tale of longing and a woman's quest, only to find that her goal was not exactly what she envisioned. "The Wire" is a story about leaving your comfort zone and overcoming fear ("...don't look down," the listener is warned.) "Be Still and Know" is a gentle lullaby of a ballad about unconditional love. And the title track, "Days Like These," is the story of celebrating and appreciating a beautiful day - because you never know what tomorrow is going to bring.
I am currently working on my second CD, which I plan to finish by next fall.
