"BETTER THAN OK"

BETTER THAN OK: This Thursday, October 29, longtime Santa Barbara alt-rockers Cat OK unleash their sophomore full-length, Dress for the Weather You Want. The 13-track collection promises the band’s signature Weezer-meets-Pavement-style lo-fi, this time with extra instrumental twists and some nifty recording techniques (see “A Long Way Left to Go”) that reach above and beyond the band’s previously recorded work. Add to that the fact that they’ve got former Coral Sea frontman Rey Villalobos opening up the show and you’ve got a bill simply not worth missing. - Santa Barbara Independent

"Cropdusting Review"

This Santa Barbara threepiece have a sound that is all their own. Cat OK’s new album, Cropdusting, incorporates innumerable styles of classic and modern rock to create a unique and memorable listening experience. With strong bass lines, well-placed guitar solos, and fast-paced songs, this album is sure to spark a twinge of nostalgia for the good ol’ days of classic rock ’n’ roll.

Some tracks, such as “It’s in Us” and “Save the Day” are slower than the rest, but the band’s crunching rock vibe is apparent throughout. Lyrically, frontman Rob Taylor delivers the goods with a voice that calls to mind a less abrasive Neil Young. But the real highlights here are the album’s arrangements and tunes, which will be stuck in your head for days. - Independent.com

Bio

Rob Taylor, a well-versed guitarist and staple of the Santa Barbara music scene, birthed Cat OK many moons ago from the dusty corners of his disturbed mind. It was sometimes a band, but usually an idea with several past recordings that included an entourage of line-ups. However, Rob’s affinity for antiques and obsessive nature for anything from the 19th century caused many a break-up of the band in the past. Now, with his days of overspending and gala events behind him, Rob is teamed up with Brad Altavilla, Aaron Campos and Chris Agh and Cat OK is going strong.
