Cats in Paris

Cats in Paris

 Manchester, England, GBR

Cats in Paris are a Manchester based trio playing excitable synth & violin lead alt. prog pop since 2007. MJJ Watson leaps from synth to violin to vocals with careless abandon, reinforced by Lorien Edward's powerhouse sci-fi bass playing and Ben Summers's virtuosic and off kilter drum patterns.

Cats in Paris are a Manchester based trio who have been playing synth & violin led prog-pop since 2007. Their first album, Courtcase 2000, released by Manchester label Akoustik Anarkhy, received critical acclaim, being described as a “gloriously experimental racket” by The Fly, and “an incredibly accomplished LP – maiden or otherwise” by Drowned in Sound. Taking influences from a wide spectrum of genres, Cats in Paris like to toy with the listener, throwing structural anomalies in amongst electro-party singalongs, shifting gears when they see fit, creating a sound that is equal parts accessible, frivolous, complex and unexpected.

They have recently finished a stint of European touring, playing the likes of Of Montreal, Wild Beasts, Max Tundra and The XX and are busy recording for their second album.
