"Ourvinyl.com- Back Of The Rack feature Cause In Effect"

Cause in Effect is one of those new artists who’s studio recordings sound great, but live performances are even better – all due to improvisation. The Austin, Texas trio sets out for an “off the cuff style of creativity” with their live acts, basically implying they do their best to plan as little as needed. Rather than giving cookie-cutter performances on a night-to-night basis, Cause in Effect takes pride in the uniqueness of every show – and invites you to check - Ourvinyl.com

"The Austin Discoveries Series: Blues-Rock Band Cause In Effect"

Last weekend–while shamelessly feeding my curiosity and hunger for new discoveries in the Austin music scene–in the midst of my nocturnal haze, I came across blues and rock ‘n’ roll band Cause In Effect.

“We are a very new group but are weathered
young musicians with what we believe to be a great formula.”

The 8-month-old, Austin-based trio–composed of Josh Googins (guitar, vocals), Z Lynch (bass), Spencer Garland (percussion)–cleverly fed my curiosity with one of their tweets that read, “existentialism is our name, and music is our game. ” Everyone knows existentialism is the only thing I like, so they got my attention. I proceeded to listening closely, I plummeted into absolute fascination. I was impressed, which, quite frankly, never happens.

“The name Cause In Effect is a play on, Cause and Effect,
referring to the eastern philosophical concept of non-duality.”

I instantly fell in love with their blues/rock ‘n’ roll/ progressive-pop-rock influenced mastered sound, which I eventually discovered was recorded in Chris “Frenchie” Smith‘s recording studio, The Bubble. I can always trust that everything that comes out of Frenchie’s studio. Their sound is very together, very complex–a gourmet meal of sounds–; they sound so mastered that I’d even consider them radio quality. Without a doubt, however, they’re going somewhere, and it is only a matter of time. I have the full intention to figuring out more on them. Brace yourself. - Annar Verrold (Red River Noise)

Bio

Assembled in Austin, Texas, Cause In Effect is the culmination of three young and weathered musicians that formed to create a vintage yet modern sound. Josh Googins’ blues/rock song writing carries the wordy air of a folk artist backdropped by instrumentation heard all too little in this generation. Spencer Garland’s jazz influenced percussion is heavy with its Bonham/Mitchell style. Z Lynch’s virtuosity lays the fundamental rhythm for stinging blues licks. Enter: Cause In Effect

Their debut EP, 'Yet To Be' is indeed a glimpse into what is yet to be from a band of young veterans. Produced by Frenchie Smith of Sixteen Deluxe, producer of The Todies, JET, Trail Of Dead, The Boxing Lesson, and countless others, this record was beautifully crafted using 2" tape, some of the best microphones in the business, and the imagination and musicianship of Googins, Lynch and Garland.

23 year old band leader, Josh Googins has worked for a name as a guitarist in Austin's flooded music scene for over 7 years. Starting during high school in Austin, Willy McGee and Josh Googins coalesced into their first psychedelic blues band called The Green Leaf Stumblers. Covering Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix as well as writing many originals, which are popular in a select group of people of the same generation, they became known as an integral underground blues band of the time alongside The Daze and Blues Mafia.
After attending Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, McGee and Googins split paths, and along came Cause In Effect. It's nothing but existing, baby. Nothing but existing.
