"SCENE & HEARD"

[They’ve been compared to] Ryan Adams, and I get their point: this is urbane country, and really, a Waylon or Merle comparison wouldn’t fit. And they’re good: honey-smooth co-singers Mich Verrier and Britton Allison are pitch-perfect, rarely taking a break from harmonizing. While the band’s primarily acoustic, their rhythm section reminds you why they’re playing a punk show: hard-hitting drummer Reed Neagle ensures the pace isupbeat, while bassist Adam Pariselli gets his pogo on. - THE COAST

"CAVALIERS! @ NXNE"

Each song featured spot-on harmonies, great arrangements and packed a surprisingly emotional punch. If these guys are not pop darlings by 2012, there is something seriously wrong with the world… This is a simple four-piece; they get up, they play and they leave the audience wanting more. It was an awesome set by an awesome band. - CHARTattack

Bio

For the past three years, Cavaliers have been tucked away, quietly winning over hearts one show at a time. Fronted by co-singers Mich Verrier and Britton Allison, this quartet has developed a unique and eclectic take on country and folk music that has earned the band a loyal and ever-growing following.

This year has seen Cavaliers travel coast to coast twice - once as the backing band for legendary folk/punk troubadour, Chuck Ragan. They've played nearly every major conference, including sold out headline slots at CMW and NXNE in Toronto, Sled Island in Calgary, and most recently, a support slot at JunoFest for Luke Doucet and The Beauties. ExploreMusic cited them as a top in-studio performance (nestled between The Weakerthans and Edward Sharpe), and they've performed live on CBC R1 and R2. Their music has also been featured in a number of TV shows, including a feature placement of their single "The End of Broken Hearts" to close out this year's season finale of Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Cavalier's sophomore album, "Maritimes", is set to be released on July 5th, 2011. The album is a stunning collection of songs inspired by time spent living together out of an RV on Canada's East Coast. The record, much like their live show, is carried by exceptional songwriting and earnest performances. Britton and Mich have found themselves in perfect combination, their voices harmonizing sweetly above the rough strums of beat-up acoustic guitars and plodding piano riffs.

The four friends have recently relocated to an old farmhouse on the shores of Lake Simcoe to rehearse and write together. Their new home has proven to be the perfect environment to develop material that reflects their songwriting - simple, nostalgic, and just a bit lonesome.
