"Meet rock band Caveman's Fire"

Caveman's Fire: One of mankind's greatest discoveries and one of southeast Wisconsin's hardest rocking bands. Playing live since June 2007, Caveman's Fire is a self-described "high-energy, hard-rock, independently-recorded group" with roots in Racine, Kenosha and Winthrop Harbor, Ill.

"Our Live shows, when we play alone, normally consist of 20 original tunes and 10 cover tunes to keep everyone happy," lead guitarist Rory Sentieri, said. "We can play either a 45 minute set or up to three hours of straight, high-energy, hard rock ... We try to keep our shows spread out so each one is more of an event."

Having played more than 50 gigs at some of the area's largest venues — the RAVE, Shank Hall, VNUKS, g-Daddy's BBC, Miramar Theater, Brat Stop, 1146 and Finney's to name a few — Caveman's Fire is coming to On the Limiter in Cudahy this Saturday (see bottom of article for May's schedule, which includes two stops in Kenosha)

With each band member having notched more than two decades of stage performance, Caveman's Fire is set to release its second album this spring. Scene262.com caught up with the band before this weekend's show.

The members: Spin Tolefree: Vocals & Tambourine (Performing Live Since 1985)Rory Sentieri: Lead Guitar (Performing Live Since 1985)Sergio Ruffolo: Lead Guitar (Performing Live Since 1985)Jordan Reichel: Rhythm Guitar (Performing Live Since 2006)Steve Slater: Bass Guitar (Performing Live Since 1980)John Miller: Drums (Performing Live Since 1988)

How long have you been playing? All of our band members have been playing they're instruments for more than 25 years.

What's the story behind how you got started? Caveman's Fire was formed in 2006 and we have been performing live since June of 2007.

The history: Rory, Spin and Sergio have been playing together on and off since 1985, mainly under the band name Rapid Fire which was originally formed by Rory's brothers Randy "Caveman" Sentieri, who was the original lead guitarist songwriter, along with Rick Sentieri, who was the original singer, Blake Uplegger on drums and Rory on Bass.

In 2006 Rory, who was now on guitar full time, Randy on bass and their nephew Nathan Mengo on drums started playing together again and eventually landed Spin as the lead vocalist. Then tragedy struck and Randy passed away in March of 2007. We kept the band going strong though. Even more inspired, Rory and Spin started writing many new tracks and after many tryouts we solidified the new line up by adding Jordan Reichel and Jamie Lenius.

We then officially named the band Caveman's Fire as an ongoing tribute to our lost brother. In 2008 we recorded and released our first CD "Live Forever." We then played many shows in support of the CD. But because of work schedules Nathan and Jamie couldn't commit to the band any longer so we brought in Jeff Arneson and John Miller full time. In February 2010, the well traveled, much-respected artists Sergio Ruffolo and bassist Steve Slater were added to the band solidifying the lineup ever since.

How old are you guys? We range in age from our youngest member Jordan, 39, to our eldest Steve, 51.

Where do you live? We live in Racine, Kenosha and Winthrop Harbor, Ill.

What is your dream gig? Alpine Valley in East Troy. We are built for the big stage!

For people who have never seen you play, what should they expect? Many people say that our original high-energy, dual-lead hard rocking powerful music and performance reminds them of arena style bands like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and Judas Priest and we were surprised to hear Kiss. We give it our all whenever and wherever we play.

What's the best part about being a musician? The best part of being a musician is playing our much-rehearsed, heartfelt, original music live on bigger stages in front of music-loving fans of all ages along with the band camaraderie and meeting new people.

When not on stage, what do you do? We are working are day jobs. Rory's a Senior Product Designer for a Wisconsin manufacturing company, Sergio and Steve work for an aftermarket car accessory company, Jordan, Spin and John work for Jordan's flooring company.

I had the opportunity to see Caveman's Fire and I must say I was impressed.
I didnt know what to expect. The adversity of the band members came together like a galaxy of Stars.
Spin, the vocalist, has a raw energy that exuberates hells fire , yet conveys heavens melodies.
Rory, the lead guitar player, reminded me of Sid Vicious, with his wild licks and thoughtful presence.
Jordan , on guitar , ties Caveman's Fire into a fury of metal madness. Veteran drummer, Thundersticks, was a show all on his own. Every beat, every bass drum hit, filled with a passion for music that can't be mistaken. The bass player, Jamie was absent, so I hope to see him at the live show.
Altogether , Caveman's Fire melancholy history extends itself into the lyrical line. A band dedicated to the life of their brother. Caveman's Fire is a group of guys living the dream for him and through him. Caveman's Fire is a rarity in the raw and real.
