"SATURDAY NIGHT" by C.Cren ft. Lil Black & Caroline Ferrari

Biography – C.Cren

C.Cren is the stage name of Charlie Crenshaw IV. C.Cren is a hard working, fresh young talent with the right skills, very humble attitude, and the work ethic to become the music industry’s next big artist. According to BET viewers worldwide, he’s one of the most exciting new male artists on the scene today. Appearing on the network’s powerful webcast talent showcase Blaze The Stage, C.Cren was voted the second place winner in the hip-hop category, stinging the web with his high energy dance tune “Saturday Night”. By combining hard pop and rock & roll with a strong Hip Hop South Beach flavor, the song is an all age’s hit contender showing C.Cren’s versatility and radio friendly sound.

Straight out of Memphis, TN, C.Cren brings all the hardcore grit his hometown is famous for; however, with a clear insight and work ethic that’s utterly refreshing. A trumpet player and well versed in reading and arranging sheet music, C.Cren graduated as valedictorian from the Memphis’ fabled Melrose High School. After high school, C.Cren enlisted in the U.S. military by signing up for the Army Reserves when he was 16 to assure a college education.

Being noticed by his superiors for his concentration and diligence, C.Cren was placed into the intense training to become an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) specialist, what the armed forces call “bomb diggers.” He has successfully performed his duty in Iraq and Kuwait. Seeking comfort during downtimes, he began making music on his laptop. Utilizing his musical training to teach himself the new electronic techniques available on the web, C.Cren was not rocking his personal blues away but he had his tent mates hyped on his beats. Once being back home from the service, he formulated his own production process and has been getting stronger with every original creation, leading up to his breakout performance on Blaze The Stage with the hit new single “Saturday Night.”

“I entered and won two showcases,” he explains, “and Mr. Charles (BET senior writer Pat Charles, creator of BET’s Wild Out Wednesday, Freestyle Friday and Blaze the Stage) selected me to go to New York for the national showcase. “Saturday Night” has been the perfect song because it’s universal. Everybody looks forward to the weekend and loves to go out with friends and party.”

C.Cren admits that he’s a bit out the box, but that’s a good thing. “Everything went down in the ‘Mound (Orange Mound, one of the city’s hood centers), but I stayed away from the negative influences,” he says. “That’s why my music is realistic but mostly positive. I don’t rap or write about drugs and guns in my music except as an observer, from both ends. There’s so much more to life. I like to rap about what’s real—hard work, fun and love, you can’t be successful without one and you can’t enjoy it without the other.” Breaking into his easy laugh, he jokes, “Career-wise, it’s Monday morning for me, I’m trying to work my way up to “Saturday Night.” With his dynamic rap flow, diversity, and strong delivery, C.Cren is well on his way to success in the music industry!
