Bio

God is raising up an army of worshipers who understand the power of the Presence. One of those worshipers is psalmist CD Porter. A gifted musician and vocalist, CD’s music is simply a vehicle used to spread the love of God to His people and to help them understand that everything they need is found in worship. The songwriter, producer and worship leader is one of today’s up-and-coming artists, a singer with a passion for praise. Having contributed his talents to multiple recordings, the Worship Director for New Life Anointed Ministries in Woodbridge, VA, is now readying his national debut entitled, Declaration. Released on May 22, 2012, Declaration is a stunning collection of praise and worship and contemporary gospel tunes set to inspire, uplift and encourage the believer.

With a God-inspired vision and "Fresh Oil' (the name of his record label), Declaration is a musical collage of testimonies of God showing Himself mighty over every mountain and through every valley in CD’s life. An incredibly personal record, it is because of God’s love and faithfulness for CD, that this singer will “DECLARE His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples” (I Chronicles 16:24).
It’s that kind of boldness that’s front and center on the CD. Opening with a powerful interlude and title tune of “Declaration”, the artist exalts the Lord from the first note. A creator of simple yet powerful melodies, CD’s gift of music quickly catches the heart of the worshiper. Songs such as “With One Sound”, the project’s lead single, and the mesmerizing “You Are My All” catapult the lover of God to a musical stratosphere. With a polished presentation and stunning production, CD’s goal for the project (and his ministry) is to see lives changed, broken hearts mended and the captive delivered.

Although music is a huge part of his life today, it wasn’t always that way. Born in Fredericksburg, VA, Clinton “CD” Porter was a “PK”. With a father as an elder and a mother as a missionary, he practically grew up between the pews. As he got older, he took note of the drummer at his church and thought he’d try it out, but ultimately found that he was drawn to the piano. When his father bought a keyboard for him at the age of 12, his love for music began, even sleeping in the bed with the instrument. He patterned himself after Neechy, the keyboardist for famed gospel singer and pastor, John P. Kee. Other influences such as Fred Hammond, Commissioned and quartet groups fueled the fire within him and he sought out to master the keyboard. He found that playing was an escape and practice time would turn into meditation time which would ultimately turn into worship time. It was during these periods that his relationship with the Lord deepened and he began expressing his love for God through his music.

But it wasn’t until an amazing experience as a teenager that he knew God had called him for music ministry. “When I was younger, I remember riding on a bus, on my way home from school,” CD recounts. “I clearly heard God say to me, ‘I am going to use you to create music. You are going to speak to nations. You are going to sing songs of deliverance and of healing and refreshing. People are going to be healed through your ministry’”.

Shortly thereafter, his songwriting career began; he started receiving “musical downloads” from God. There were times when songs came as he worshiped and sometimes through dreams. He became very comfortable in that place of worship and ultimately pursued it as a career. As his musical repertoire expanded, he played for a number of gospel groups and took part in the recording and production of many projects. Counting influences such as Stephen Hurd, Judith Christie McAllister and William Murphy, CD dropped his debut release, Work In Progress in 2007.
