"WATERMELON-Git It While It’s HOT !!!"

The historical and hystericalrites-of-passage comedy about growing from Negro girlhood into empowered womanhood

The stories… the characters… the HER-story by CECE Antoinette. Cece’s one-woman tour- de- force… In this big ol’ indoor picnic, she delves into her semi-southern roots growing up Negro, female, twin (brother) in Hamilton Park-- the first community “built from the ground up for colored families” in Dallas, TX. WATERMELON reaches back into the Goddess “myths” and unveils the mystical power of femininity creating a fertile playground for a young wanna-be Goddess who can barely spell, much less explain her own private parts. Cecelia parallels the girl-experience with fruit and the boy experience with meat. She uses real fruit, real meat, real sweets and a call-and-response that allows and encourages audience participation. WATERMELON—Git it while it’s Hot! is told through a series of spell-binding personal stories, embellished with some history of mysticism, all infused in some amusingly comedic characters; add a host of pop-up people and mystery guest spirits who spontaneously claim their place in the show.
