"Get to Know: singer/songwriter Cecili..."

Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Cecili describes her music as "alternative music for eclectic souls." She has indeed proven she is unique in her versatility of musical tendencies. Born in Germany and traveling around as an army brat has no doubt contributed to her "cross-genre" style of music. Her sound stems from a firm foundation in jazz, funk and soul blended with her own self described "musical discovery period" of punk, post punk, grunge and hip hop genres among others.

A natural-born vocalist, Cecili began singing at the age of 3 in school plays, and was an early choice for her schools gifted and talented music program. This inspired her love for the arts, and throughout her school years she went on to pursue acting and singing . She spent time honing her skills as a session/event/backup singer, than decided to follow her passion of becoming an actress to New York city. While working as a waitress there and on the craft of acting at William Esper Studio, Cecili came to realize music was her first and true love. This epiphany led her to performing her own original music in various bands around the NYC area.

With musical influences like Ella Fitzgerald, Chaka Khan, Bjork, Dolores O'Riordan, Erykah Badu, Bilal, Nirvana, A Tribe Called Quest, Tracy Bonham, Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, it's no wonder her style is difficult to classify.

Over the years, she has worked as singer-songwriter for various producers across the globe on electronic projects. She also fronts Atlanta-based electro-alt-soul band, Mr. E. Worldwide. and is currently hard at work recording her first solo guitar driven EP which has yet to named.

Bio

Perhaps it's having been born in Germany that led Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Cecili to develop such versatile music tendencies. Or, maybe it was her early developed cross-cultural perspective from growing up an Army brat that would birth an idea of "crossing-genres" subconsciously in music. Cecili describes her own music style as "alternative music for eclectic souls."

Hers is a sound stemming from a firm foundation in jazz, funk and soul laid via her father's record collection, blended with her own self described "musical discovery period" of primarily punk, post punk, grunge and hip hop genres among others. She cites a few of her influences as Ella Fitzgerald, Chaka Khan, Bjork, Dolores O'Riordan, Erykah Badu, Bilal, Nirvana, A Tribe Called Quest, Tracy Bonham, Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, although she admits her influences are so vast it's "..impossible to list them all." Currently, Cecili is hard at work recording her first solo guitar driven EP which has yet to named.

A natural-born vocalist, Cecili began singing at the age of 3 in school plays, and was an early choice for her schools gifted and talented music program that would take the budding songstress to various conventions, events around San Antonio to sing with others in her age group. This would inspire her to develop a love for the arts, and she went on to pursue acting and singing throughout her school years as constant in her often ever-changing, school and home life as the daughter of a US soldier. After college and honing her skills as a session/event/backup singer, Cecili fulfilled a lifelong dream and followed her passion to New York city to study acting and pursue a career as an actress.

While working as a waitress in New York City, and during her intense work on the craft of acting in the rigorous training program at William Esper Studio, Cecili would finally realize music to be her first and true love. This epiphany would also lead to her develop various bands to support performing her own original music in and around the NYC area at various venues such as Ashford and Simpsons' "Sugar Bar" and the historic "Bitter End" on the very same stage as artists like Lady Gaga, Patti Labelle and Bob Dylan..and many others. "It was then that I decided to give attention to playing guitar, in order to add a level of versatility to my style and to develop a deeper relationship with the creation of my music." -Cecili
