The best kept secret in music

"San Diego Troubadour"

Celticana-now that's a great name! And, by the way, it's also a great band! With a name like that and the images it evokes, this group begged attention. Celticana's members together make some of the best Celtic-influenced music this side of the Emerald Isle. Morris says that she first heard the faint, alluring strains of Celtic music while still a wee lassie, in her hometown of Bakersfield, California and in her Catholic Church. From that time, she became absorbed by Celtic music. Inspired by the sound, Morris soon began to learn guitar and compose her own tunes into a Celtic framework. Moreover, with her strong, yet angelic, voice, she has been able to drive home the power and beauty of this music. Besides each member's love of Celtic music, the band mates bring to the table a huge range of experience. Angelo Miranda, keyboardist ranges his talents across every spectrum including ragtime; Floyd Fronius is a long time local who has play music from traditional country fiddling to fusion; Ray Conseur is a seasoned jazz and world music drummer and master of unique, mood-setting sound effects. The result is a bold mixture of traditional Celtic music, textured by other American musical forms. Celticana is a fine group of talented, intelligent, and mature players who aren't afraid to explore new roads of expression; still, their music always brings you back to the evergreen purity of Celtic traditions. Morris and the other members see Celtic music as alive and ot frozen in time. As such, it lends itself to new interpretations and can continue to be shaped to privide contemporary relevance. - Lyle Duplessie

Bio

Our live show sets us apart from similar Irish/American groups as well as our sophisticated arrangements, our musicianship, our instrumentation, our beautiful sexy lead vocalist and the comand and control of her emotional voice. Our concerts are sold out, pubs are filled to capacity, and CD sales are high. There are lots of "Celtic Fusion/World Traditional" bands in the US, but few write their own original material and certainly not material that is progressive rock in nature, nor have they received the MP3 recognition and radio play for their original material. Our stories are about intense real life stories (See William Morris) and our instrumentals are absolutely drive it home smokin! Traditional material is performed carefully, sure to please any songwriter. Lauren, the band's producer grew up Irish Catholic in the oil fields of Bakersfield, this is where the Americana influence comes in. This is a real band, not a jump on the Celtic bandwagon band.
