Cene’
It was on February 16, 1989 in Cleveland, Ohio that a star was born, and this illustrious Aquarius singing/songwriting prodigy, the eldest of three; would be called Cene’.
With the voice of an angel and exotic good looks that pay homage to the culmination of both her Native & Black American ancestry; she first began singing at age 5, when she’d coo-a-long with her beautiful Mom (Tracy) and her aunt (Kim) either at their local church or around the house. Mastering the usage of her own unique full throttled alto voice & naturally deep tones took some time for the young siren whose earlier inspirations included the likes of Brandy, Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Patti LaBelle & Luther Vandross.
But inspiration was never too far away, as there were a plethora of fellow Cleveland natives that she was familiar with whom had become international stars, such as Halle Berry, Arsenio Hall, Gerald Levert, Bone, Thugs & Harmony, Avant & Don King.
Starting vocal lessons at age 9, she did her first studio recording session by age 12, she sang in The Cultural Ensemble Gospel Choir in her first year of high school and wrote her first hit single; “MY FIRST LOVE” at age 13, and now has dozens of finished songs in her Cene’ Songs Music catalogue (ASCAP).
Now living in Charlotte, NC, this 15 year old singing sensation has taken her new hometown by storm by winning 1st place championships in both The Annual Queen City Talent Search & The Salisbury Talent Competition @ Livingstone College in 2004 (against adult contestants). She has also sang @ The Coca Cola Fest in Charlotte, The Pantene Total You 2004 Showcase alongside MC Lyte, Nikki Giovanni, Tonya Richardson & Rhian Benson, as well as becoming a finalist in The Atlantis Music Conference Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia.
Wanting to garner a career with true longevity and staying power, Cene’ is apparently on her way, having already opened up for and/or worked with the likes of Trick Daddy, L’il Zane, and international multi-platinum Pop/Dance icons like C&C Music Factory, The KLF & SNAP! in Australia for two weeks as part of SWEATFEST WORLD TOUR 2004.
With an equal love for both singing & songwriting, Cene’ wants to write hits for others as much as she loves to sing them herself. And with acting being another passion, she also sees feature films in her immediate future as well.
