"Fresh Air"

Censura is a “breath of fresh air” for the Kansas City music scene as said by Banzai Magazine readers.
- Banzai Magazine

"Censura Center of Local Buzz"

“And yet another band screams out of that wild college town of Lawrence. Though young by industry standards, just over a year old, they embody what it means to put your minds together and plug forward with a common goal. A huge buzz has already been created and certainly will follow after their CD release“
- Jason Nivens, Kansas City's 98.9 The Rock

Bio

Purpose

Censura has a different sound and purpose. While keeping a structure of modern heavy rock, they overlay catchy hooks and electronics to create music that compels listeners to move with feeling and in turn buy records. In contrary to other live acts, Censura has made it a personal goal to persuade listeners to think as opposed to fight. They portray a positive message in their songs, and try to pass this message on to as many people as they can.

In a Nutshell

Censura started their long journey into the music industry in the fall of 2004, and has grown quite a large fan base in a very short time. After playing shows for less than a year, they have not only won two "Rock The Landing " battle of the bands contests at Lawrence's largest venue, but they have also won the award for "Best New Band" in Kansas City from heavyfrequency.com, and continue to consistently draw numbers that impress venue managers and bands alike. While Censura has an explosive stage presence, they bring down their sets with introspective melodic pieces. They focus on these high energy live performances, catchy riffs, and copious amounts of melody to keep their fan base growing.
