Feeling a bit camera shy

Centrinity refers to being centered amidst the good, the bad, and the neutral perceptions which we experience in daily life. Hence, it also refers to how we approach composition and improvisation from the spaciousness resultant of such centering.

Centrinity is different from others bands in that we are more interested in proving ourselves to our audience by maintaining and promoting a strong commitment to compositional and musical integrity. We are absolutely opposed to providing music that is customer driven and believe that true art and music originate from the composer and not from the forces of business and commercialism. There are many bands out there who sell themselves short by trying to style the music to a preconceived audience or market. While that might be a safe bet for making a short term profit, it results in music that lacks true artistic integrity. Looking back on the past, it has only been music that originated from the heart and mind of the composer which stood the test of time; which incidentally can result in long term residual income.

The list of influences we have are many, chiefly among them are some of the great progressive rock acts of the 1970's such as Magma, King Crimson, Yes, Gentle Giant, Pink Floyd, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Genesis, and Gong. We also love Jazz and Classical in the loose sense of the word. Any music or composer which has stood the test of time or which has maintained an underground following in obscurity would fall under our influences. A comprehensive list of influences is also available on our website.
