About CHABOLA VIP ...

Chabola Vip was born in 2005. Adrian Sepiurca (Buenos Aires/vocals), was by then playing alone with his guitar, but in his head the songs had brasses, arrangements etc… so he decided to start up a group.
Then Julián Olivares (Madrid/guitar) who lived between Spain and UK and with whom Adrian had played previously, appeared on the scene.
They consider that moment the formal birth of Chabola Vip.
Adrian had posted notes looking for a "tuba player being responsible, hardworking, punctual, not (very) stoned and one who understands the development of a project."
On the same day Miguel Bestard (Palma de Mallorca/tuba) called. He did not have all the requirements but was added immediately to the project.
The first trombonist, Norman Hogue, seeing that punctuality point was serious, contacted the band with Cheryl Walters (New Orleans/trombone) and although she was initially not very convinced, joined the band without a clear idea about why.
Shortly they met Diego Ain (Ubatuba/percussion), who seduces everyone with its percussion set made with a salad plate, and forms the core of Chabola Vip, wich is completed with the appearance, to the delight of all, of Juan Pietranera (Buenos Aires/piano).
The first show they did was in a ceremony attended by the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, celebrating the torturer Cavallo was found guilty of various crimes against humanity.
From then on, Chabola Vip started playing in bars, clubs, theatres, concert halls and festivals, always bringing their Ibero-Balkan-Tropical style.
As a group they have opened concerts for Lila Downs, Zap Mamma and many others, and individually worked with Caetano Veloso, Manu Chao, Omara Portuondo, Carlinhos Brown, Emir Kusturica, Cheo Feliciano, Andrés Calamaro, Maria Bethania, Pedro Guerra, Agnes Jaoui, Diego el Cigala, and many more. All of these experiences are synthesized in their particular debut album: Si, quiero! (Yes, I want!)
