Bio

Well first and foremost this rising artist can not be defined or placed in a box. A singer/dj with a style of his own, creativity flows through him effortlessly. Born Chad Waterman, July 8th 1983 in Canarsie and raised in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, NY. With a Guyanese mom and a father of Bajan decent this has helped to instill alot of vital qualities in which turned him into the man he is today.
New York is a place that shaped his mental toughness and character. Being from Brooklyn and experiencing the many different cultures mostly West Indian reggae and soca was always playing but hip hop of course was his first love. Moving to Baltimore at 15 awakened my inner spirituality. A series of events took place that occured while living there that led him to do some serious soul searching. Ultimately discovering a talent for writing poetry which transitioned into writing songs.
Listening to alot of roots and conscious reggae music really made an Impact on Chaddy and his embracing the Rastafari Livity. Artists like Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Sizzla, Jah Cure, Garnett Silk to name a few. Bob Marley being an artist he was familiar with and exposed to from a young age, but never understood the message this musical prophet was trying to bring forth.
Emerging unto the scene in early 2010 with his first two professionally recorded tracks called "Warriaz" and "Stress Free". Chaddy Royal is definitely here to make a statement and spread his message across the globe. A message of justice against oppression, Inequality and Hate. "I feel that reggae music is music of Empowerment and Substance". "I've learned so much things from this music that one could never imagine learning in school book, but like they say half the truth has never been told and I feel compelled to share that truth with you".
Debut ALBUM "The Awakening" recorded in South Africa currently out and AVAILABLE for DOWNLOAD on Itunes, Amazon, and other sites.
