Bio
Chad Gillies grew up the hard way in the cities, towns and countrysides of Alberta. Chad Gillies is an impassioned poet. He recently lived for one year in Costa Rica, and that experience fed his growing passion for making music, writing lyrics and playing guitar. Upon his return home, Chad Gillies had his first book of poetry, FUMBLING THROUGH THE DARK, published by Chipmunka in the UK.
Major musical influences include Bob Marley, John Lennon, Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, Muddy Waters, Clutch, and Gov't Mule. With this very diverse influence Chad Gillies puts together his own style, borrowing from delta blues, rock, and old school country. When all goes right, songs fall from his guitar like the beats of his own heart.
Chad Gillies has has been involved in many different bands over the years. He ardently seeks out new musical talents coming onto the scene. He is presently working solo and with Pete Christianson and Rob Farion, both accomplished musicians in their own right. Recently, Chad Gillies has played in many different venues, including charity gigs in ballrooms, lounges, outdoor concerts, busking venues, restaurants and coffee shops. Chad Gillies takes the view that music is a gift to be shared!
