"Poor Red Rose" is possibly the bands favorite song to play. Written by Chad Harter and Khalil Baines this is a song about not being able to have what we want. The lyrics of the song "Like a red rose sitting in a garden that wants to be blue, I keep sitting around wanting, wanting you." The sad lyrics are combined with an upbeat rhythm that makes the head bob up and down.
"Breakout" is Chad and Rosie's first project. Recorded over a year ago this amazing song provides people to hear Rosie's raw talent and vocal range. This song was written by Chad on a lonely winter morning while thinking about getting rid of people in his life that were becoming a drain on him. Rosie Short brings the touching lyrics alive and makes the listener sit up in their seat with the incredible flow of the song.
"Imagine" is an extremely catchy song that combines Travis Roger's and Khalil Baines' lyrical skills with one of Chad's favorite rhythms. This is a song about not knowing why we hesitate. Lyrics like "dysfunctional subordinate" and "feelings that we procreate" subtly explain the hardships of life we all face.

Artists that influence the band are far and wide. Chad Harter claims Trent Reznor, Keller Williams and Beck had a huge influence on his interest in sequencing live music. Punk rock and early hip hop artists like Ice Cube influenced Chad as a teenager. Khalil Baines was influenced by The Notorious B. I. G. and Tupac while fellow member Travis Rogers and Jed Haywood grew up listening to all the metal bands of the 90s (Deftones and Staind). Rosie Short on the other hand has a blues background and loves singing acapella Fiona Apple and Tori Amos. Rosie and Chad also claim they have been influenced by Sublime and Nirvana. All of these influences provide the band with a very unique and dynamic sound.
By combining the efforts of all these talented musician and deciding to write popular sounding music that everyone can enjoy Chad Harter and Friends is a special band. With songs like "Poor Red Rose" an upbeat/happy song that is actually about being sad over the fact that we may not ever have everything we want and "Facebook Friends" a song about... well yeah...Facebook and falling in love because of Facebook.
All members of the band have at least 12 years of musical experience, some more, Rosie Short has been singing since she was 2. Chad Harter has been experimenting with sequences and loops for over 10 years but 2 years ago when he purchased a Macbook Pro everything changed. With the ability to sequence music perfectly Chad now concentrates on preparing the best songs he can for his team of vocalists/lyricists that turn awesome instrumental music into astounding songs!
