Bio
Chainwax formed in early 2003 consisting of Joel (guitar), Brian (bass), and Mike (Drums). After only a few practices together the three realized they had an amazing chemistry, however it would be over a year before they would find the right vocalist. As a result Chainwax concentrated on writing well though out instrumental pieces to construct songs. Realizing they didn't have a singer to draw a crowd's attention, they concentrated on making songs compelling through catchy guitar hooks, slamming bass lines, and explosive drumming (which still represents the sound they have today). In September of 2003 they found their first vocalist Steve. In November 2003 they released their first demo The 150 and in January 2004 they began playing shows. Due to musical and personal differences Chainwax decided to part ways with their original singer and brought in Kriz to form the band as it is to date. Within a matter of one week, Kriz rewrote all the songs and put his own style to the mix.
Since January, Chainwax has managed to play shows consistently in the Midwest. They continue to push and outdo themselves at every show. In a short period of time, they have played with some of the most elite local bands in the Midwest area including ODM, Blackout, Ditchwater, Lifter, Incaged, and The Pimps. They even shared the stage with Soil at The Rave in Milwaukee. Their music continues to grow and mature as their live show becomes more aggressive and energetic. They credit their unique sound to the various influences they have ranging from thrash, death, Swedish death metal, Rap, Classical, Jazz, Flamenco, Nu Metal, Punk, Etc. Refusing to settle on one particular sound they continuously grow as musicians and as a band as a whole.
