Bio
Los hermanos Nunez - The Nunez brothers- are virtuoso instruments players: Juan on bandoneón and Marcos on Spanish guitar. They complete the formation with Chacho Ruiz Guinazu on percussion (autochthonous and original set)
After 7 years playing with Chango Spasiuk -with whom they have toured the best stages of the world music in Europe and Latin America- the group was created in 2007. They have been performing in the main stages and festivals of Argentina since then. Los Nunez y Ruiz Guinazu had edited 2 albums and had received great reviews from the press. In 2010 they won the Atahualpa prize.
Juan y Marcos Nunez were born in Campo Viera, Misiones, a small province near the Brazilian border in the northeast of Argentina. This year the brothers are celebrating twenty years of career. The rhythms and the cadences of the region are present in their music as a lived experience carried from their childhood and cultural environment. As a duet they have travelled to the south of Brazil, Taiwan, Australia and New Zeland. Since 2009 they have been performing at Club Fernandez Fierro in a cycle called Club Atletico Litoral, inviting groups and soloists representative of the genre (Folk music from the North East of the country).
The repertoire is composed by instrumental music on the regional rhythms : rasguido doble, polca correntina, schotis, baión, galopas y guaranias, among the main rhythm wich is chamame.
The live performance is sober and powerful, and it shows the rhythmic richness of musica del litoral* . The instruments dialogue , creating a fine balance, with virtuosity and elegance.
