"Nah Right >> Chance Fischer ft. Nickelus F - DAMN"

Chance's first leak from upcoming mixtape "Friends.Romans.Collegemen" - Nahright.com

"Introducing Chance Fischer"

Richmond native Chance Fischer (shown here as Mars Blackmon) has put out a mixtape that is getting mad love up north and we are pleased to be passing this along to the hip-hop heads in RVA. The production is excellent and the kid has a sound that harkens back but is still oven-fresh. The opening track "HERE" makes an old man feel good. Check it out. - RVA Magazine

Bio

With his rap career barely a year old, Chance Fischer "The Ivy League Rapper" has released two well-received mixtapes, talked music with 9th Wonder and Dr. Cornel West, and performed in front of large crowds opening for Big K.R.I.T., Chiddy Bang, Freddie Gibbs, Smoke DZA, Jackie Chain, Mac Miller and fellow Richmond, VA native Nickelus F. His music has been featured on The Smoking Section, Buck Marley XXX, Nah Right, DDotOmen, and Pigeons and Planes.

Born and raised in the West End of Richmond, VA, Chance was influenced by many different styles of rap ranging from No Limit to Canibus to Big Pun. However, music wasn’t always at the forefront of his life, school was his priority. Chance, having recently finished his senior year in The School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University, chose college over a career in music because he didn’t want to be labeled as another kid from the struggle that rapped or played basketball. As a junior at Cornell, Chance found solace in music and decided to take it off the backburner as a mere hobby.

In August 2010 he released his first project entitled “HERE” hosted by DJ RNS. The tape was well-received locally, nationally and internationally. “HERE” was able to get placement on a few international blogs with the help of UK based Public Relations company, Sticky Toffee. His second project, “The Lucky Libra EP,” was released in October 2010 on Chance's birthday. The EP was developed, recorded, and released in the span of two weeks during Cornell’s Fall Break. A marketing staff member from lifestyle brand, Upper Playground, reached out to Chance to saying they liked his music; sparking a relationship that led to their sponsoring of the EP. The Smoking Section voted the song “Freedom” from “The Lucky Libra” as one of the 100 Best Songs of 2010.

His third project, set to be released in October 2011, is entitled “Friends.Romans.Collegemen.” The title is a pun on the opening lines of Marc Antony’s closing speech in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. F.R.C. paints the picture of Chance as a modern day Caesarian-like figure trying to cope with being both admired and hated by the people. Chance teamed up with Cornell producer D. Nilsz and Richmond legend and Freestyle Friday Hall of Famer, Nickelus F to deliver the first single from the project entitled “DAMN.”
