Chance McKinney

 Sandy, Utah, USA
BandCountrySinger/Songwriter

CMT Award Winner, Chance McKinney (Music City Madness) was recently dubbed CMT's #1 "unsigned" Country Artist in the Nation. A native Montanan who migrated to the West Coast has been wowing audiences in the Pacific Northwest for the past 5 years making "Industrialized Country" a household phrase.

Biography

Winner of CMT's Music City Madness, Chance McKinney is now labeled as the #1 "unsigned" signer/songwriter in the nation. He just finished filming a CMT Studio 330 Session April 29th with Reba McEntire and Steel Magnolia. His rights are currently owned by Big Machine/Valory Music until December 2010. Will they sign him? Stay tuned.

Impending tour dates with Dwight Yoakam (April), Blake Shelton (July), Jamie O'Neal (July), Grand Funk Railroad (July), Creedence Clearwater (August), .38 Special (August) and Lynyrd Skynyrd (September) are already on the books with many more to follow. Tour dates range from WA to OR to ID to MT to UT... is it breakout time for the Northwest product?

Standing over 6'6" tall, Chance has some large boots to fill... literally. Size 14's are not easy to come by! The expectation of the country "big man" means competition with likes of Trace Adkins (6'7"), Blake Shelton (6'5") and Darryl Worley (6'7"). His deep, filthy, syrup-drippinn' voice brings a unique element to the genre. A background in Motown means he moves like a Temptation while a Montana upbrining roots him squarely in country.

Sixty Times

Written By: Chance McKinney

Sixty Times (Chance McKinney 08/20/09)

I hung up the phone… Caught my breath
One more hour is what her mama said
‘Til she’d be in… Then I could try again
I had my notebook layin’ on the tablecloth
There were 30-some questions I could rattle off
Written down inside… In case I got tongue-tied
My best friend said her sister said that she heard from a friend
If I had the guts to ask that she’d go to the dance (and I was)

Nervous… With butterflies
A little giddy on the inside
I’d never felt this way before
Was I supposed to be this high?
How long could an hour take
My folks think I’m a nutcase
But I played it cool as the minute hand ticked by…
I only checked it sixty times

She said yes… the dance went well
She was a brace-faced skinny-kneed bombshell
I was an awkward mess… A perfect fit I guess
Seven years later she was wearin’ my ring
I was pacin’ up n’ down the maternity wing
Waitin’ for the word… See I’d come straight from work
The nurse wouldn’t let me in the room until I’d had a shower
She said my wife was doin’ fine and I’d be a dad within the hour (and I was)

Nervous… With butterflies
A little giddy on the inside
I’d never felt this way before
Was I supposed to be this high?
How long could an hour take
The nurse thinks I’m a nutcase
But I played it cool as the minute hand ticked by…
I only checked it sixty times

Good night my love, sleep tight
Everything will be alright
If you call for me I’ll be right by your side
Then I placed her in her crib and settled in for her first night
Naw… I ain’t gonna lie I was)

Nervous… With butterflies
A little giddy on the inside
I’d never felt this way before
Was I supposed to be this high?
I stood there by her nursery door
Waitin’ for a little baby snore
But I played it cool as my wife walked by and smiled…
I only checked in sixty times

Dirty Rotten Pirate

Dirty Rotten Pirate (Chance McKinney)

There ain’t a name I ain’t been called
From scallywag to a scurvy dog
Old Davey Jones he would be proud
I’m a thief of the heart and a villain in the dark
On the prowl like a great white shark
I ain’t met a wench I could turn down
Some call me a raider…
I kinda like buccaneer
I know I should be ashamed of myself…
But let’s get one thing clear

I’m a scoundrel… and a lover
I’m a handsome rogue if I do say so that discovered
That the booty that I steal
And the treasure chests I feel
Make it hard for me to conceal
I’m a good for nothin’ bilge-sucker (swash-buckler) who can’t hide it... I’m a Dirty Rotten Pirate

I’m the nature of the beast
A hound of his leash
I’m the one your mom warned you about
I’m always down for a quick score anytime I’m on shore
Always got one foot out the door
Don’t you know there’s one in every crowd
Some call me a raider… I kinda like buccaneer
I know I should be ashamed of my past… but let’s get one thing clear

Chorus

Well a Yo-Ho-Ho and a bottle of rum
I see skirts I ain’t been under
It’s a criminal shame, a capital crime
No damsel gets left behind
So I plunder n’ pillage from village to village
Every pirate knows he can never be too rich

I’m a scoundrel… and a lover
I’m a handsome rogue if I do say so that discovered
That the booty that I steal
And the treasure chests I feel
Make it hard for me to conceal
I’m a good for nothin’ bilge-sucker (swash-buckler) who can’t hide it...
When you’re as bad as me and the women dig it why fight it?
Be a Dirty Rotten Pirate
Be a Dirty Rotten Pirate

I’m the nature of the beast
A hound off his leash
I’m the one your mom warned you about…

Be Real

Be Real (Chance McKinney)
CMT Music City Madness Season (IV) Winning Song

I bet you’re tired… Of the same lines
And the same games, by different guys
I’m the answer… To your question
I’m a real man, here’s my confession

I’m just a man nothin’ more or less
A little boy come Christmas
And old fella sittin’ on a bench
Shavin’ wood down to a tip
I still struggle with right n’ wrong
I can’t stop and ask directions
But if you promise to love me I’ll make you a deal
I’ll always, always… Be Real

I’m a real jerk… but I’m real nice
I’ve got a loud voice, but sometimes I’m quiet
I’m an athlete… and a real nerd
And I’m real tall, but I’m short on words

I’m just a man nothin’ more or less
A little boy come Christmas
And old fella sittin’ on a bench
Tellin’ stories ‘bout a fish
I still struggle with right n’ wrong
I can’t stop and ask directions
But if you promise to love me I’ll make you a deal
I’ll always, always… Be Real

You won’t hear it from my mouth if I can’t back it up
My actions speak a thousand words I hope that it’s enough

I’m just a man nothin’ more or less
A little boy come Christmas
And old fella sittin’ on a bench
Tellin’ stories ‘bout his kids
I still struggle with right n’ wrong
I can’t stop and ask directions
But if you promise to love me I’ll make you a deal
I’ll always, always…
I’ll always, always… Be Real

Outta Here

Written By: Chance McKinney

Outta Here (Chance McKinney)

8:30 Sunday mornin’…
Heard the rooster crowin’ as I’m
Layin’ in the shrubs all caked in dirt
She must’ve let me lie here sleepin’
After another night of drinkin'
My truck is gone I guess she went to church
I saw a note taped to the front door
As I stagger up the stairs
It said “if you’re here when I get home,
You’d better say you’re prayers!” (cause you’re)

Outta here… yeah you’re gone
Take a long, long ride off a short dock
Hit the road n’ disappear
You see I’m… Outta love, outta trust,
Outta time and outta lust
I took your truck as a souvenir
You see I’ve… Had enough… You’re outta here

8:30 Sunday mornin’…
I hear the preacher’s warnin’
Sittin’ in my favorite pew in church
Tales of fire and brimstone…
Flyin’ from his righteous tongue
Well it’s the least that I deserve
I see her in the front row
It's almost been a year
Since the famous note she wrote
Made it crystal clear (it said you’re)

Chorus

After church she pulled me aside and said
Whatever happened to that guy?
The one I left for dead that mornin’ caked in mud n’ beer…

And I said… “He’s outta here… yeah he’s gone
He took a long, long ride off a short dock
Hit the road n’ disappeared
You see I realized I’m still in love
I’ve got the time to earn your trust
Keep the truck as a souvenir
You see I… Had enough… He’s outta here!”

8:30 Sunday mornin’… I heard the rooster crowin’ as I… Meet her in the truck and head to church
